Football fans have traded more than $250 million and no shortage of strong words over which team will win the Super Bowl. Music fans just want to know who those teams are opening for. Following weeks of rumor-fueled, halftime-show-headliner detective work that included a fabricated Apple Music teaser, the latest lead may put an end to any [reasonable doubt](https://music.apple.com/us/album/reasonable-doubt/1475940563).

The past five Super Bowl halftime show headliners were announced sometime in September. When the typical announcement window came and went without a headliner, the internet grew less patient and less particular about sourcing.

Earlier this month, a [fabricated Apple Music teaser](https://www.instagram.com/p/DeILQh4vRcU/?utm%5Fsource=ig%5Fembed&ig%5Frid=A4WzBsxZCxE0z1mwR4XrvGb) featuring a silhouette of a woman who looked a lot like Miley Cyrus went [viral](https://www.tvinsider.com/1295257/apple-music-super-bowl-halftime-leak-debunked/?utm%5Fsource=chatgpt.com). Apple Music is the official presenting sponsor of the Super Bowl halftime show. The supposed teaser, blue check mark and all, looked convincing enough to the scrolling eye. Cyrus' chances of headlining the halftime show climbed from [29% to 57% on Kalshi](https://news.kalshi.com/p/super-bowl-lxi-halftime-odds-miley-cyrus-jumps-to-57) that week. Traders may have been overthinking it.

Jay-Z's entertainment company, Roc Nation, has served as the NFL's live music entertainment strategist since 2019\. Under the partnership, which was renewed in 2024, Jay-Z reportedly has "[ultimate say](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/live-blogs/super-bowl-halftime-show-bad-bunny-music/60RkQ6ZzUvD4/3uLuF6qGP52b/)" over who headlines the Super Bowl halftime show. The NFL's head of music has called the 25-time Grammy winner the "[most important voice in the selection process](https://www.avairl.com/p/industry-connection-85b4)." When asked in 2024 whether he would consider a self-booking, Jay-Z admitted, "[I don't know. I thought it would be selfish to pick myself too early.](https://www.etonline.com/jay-z-teases-ushers-super-bowl-show-says-maybe-hell-headline-future-halftime-performance-exclusive)"

Emphasis on _too early_.

Jay-Z will [reportedly](https://deadline.com/2026/10/jay-z-super-bowl-halftime-show-2027-1237168702/) headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show. [Merriam-Webster](https://x.com/MerriamWebster/status/2112641355822633436?ref%5Fsrc=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2112641355822633436%7Ctwgr%5Ea63c4b6e733aa176b73ec77eabb79f0acd38ed0d%7Ctwcon%5Es1%5F&ref%5Furl=https%3A%2F%2Ftvtattle.herokuapp.com%2Fadmin%2Fpost%5Fitems%2Fnew) found the selection process inspiring, proposing "dictionary" for Word of the Year.

Traders have grown confident that Jay-Z will headline the halftime show, but which performers join him onstage is another matter, one that generated $55 million in trading volume last Super Bowl. Judging by the early favorites, Jay-Z might not be the biggest name onstage.

## Super Bowl Halftime Show

Below are the [odds for who will headline the Super Bowl halftime show](https://kalshi.com/markets/kxsuperbowlheadline/who-will-headline-super-bowl-/kxsuperbowlheadline-27), per Kalshi.

[Puck News reported](https://puck.news/jay-z-picks-jay-z-for-super-bowl-lxi/) late Monday night that Jay-Z would headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show. Traders instantly began buying "Yes" contracts on Jay-Z in the halftime headliner market. Within one hour of the Puck News reporting, Jay-Z's odds spiked from 58.8% to 78.4%.

Deadline subsequently reported that a "[music industry insider](https://deadline.com/2026/10/jay-z-super-bowl-halftime-show-2027-1237168702/)" confirmed the booking. Jay-Z's odds have since climbed to 89%. Neither the rapper nor the NFL has confirmed the news, though Jay-Z is scheduled to perform at SoFi Stadium, the site of Super Bowl LXI, on Friday and Saturday, potentially giving him the opportunity to make the announcement himself.

The headliner market appears all but settled, though Jay-Z's reported selection has served as a catalyst for another halftime-related market that generated more than $55 million across Kalshi and Polymarket last season.

Whatever feeling football fans get when their favorite team pulls off a surprise "[Philly Special](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=%5FXmhBaUdges)" in the Big Game is how the [quarter of viewers](https://www.shu.edu/business/news/number-planning-to-watch-super-bowl-up-taylor-swift.html) who tune in primarily for the halftime show feel when the headliner brings out a surprise guest. No Super Bowl is complete without one, and traders have a bold prediction about who might join Jay-Z onstage: Beyoncé.

The power couple's shared catalog includes various adjectival musings on romance: "Crazy in Love," "Drunk in Love," and collaborative album _Everything is Love_. A third appearance would tie Beyoncé with Justin Timberlake and Gloria Estefan for the most Super Bowl halftime performances in history.

Beyoncé is the favorite to join Jay-Z at the Super Bowl at 61%, followed by Pharrell Williams at 44%, Rihanna at 40%, and Timberlake at 40%. All three have collaborated with the rapper on songs including "Umbrella," "Run This Town," and "Suit & Tie."

Jay-Z has spent decades making records with musicians who could headline, or already have headlined, the halftime show without him. He probably didn't give himself the gig without knowing who would pick up the phone.

Traders have until February to figure out the blueprint.
