Amazon Prime Day will soon be upon us — the mega-shopping event will take place this year on June 21 and 22.

But Amazon isn’t the only place to score some deals in the coming days, and some of you might be trying to let go of your Amazon Prime membership. That means you can look for deals somewhere other than Amazon.

Retailers across the board are seizing the opportunity to hold their own competing savings events. Many have offered their own deals around Prime Day in the past and the competition has become even fiercer over the years. Plus, you can use offers from cash back aggregators and shopping portals that are offering even more opportunities to save.

We know that the sheer number of promotions can make it easy to want to splurge, but be smart about your shopping in the coming days. If there are a few deeply discounted items you know are on your list, go ahead and purchase. But setting a spending limit before you browse can help you resist impulse buys and keep any expenses within your budget.

To get you started, here are some of the best deals we’ve seen so far outside of Amazon’s orbit. We’ll be updating this article with additional sales and deals worth considering as they pop up, so check back regularly.

Pro Tip

Use a cashback portal like Rakuten to get savings above and beyond retailers’ advertised discounts.

To get you started, here are some of the best deals we’ve seen so far outside of Amazon’s orbit. We’ll be updating this article all week with additional sales and deals worth considering as they pop up, so check back frequently.

Ongoing Sales

Among the major retailers hosting online sales, here are some that we liked:

Kohl’s

Budget retailer Kohl’s is hosting a “WOW Deals” event on June 21 and 22, at the same time as Prime Day. During the event, you can earn $10 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 you spend. Expect deals on home, toys, apparel, beauty and more.

Some deals to keep an eye out for: the Google Nest Hello Video Doorbell for $149.99, down from $229.99, plus $30 in Kohl’s Cash, as well as 25% off Nike, Under Armour, Adidas and Champion activewear for kids.

BestBuy

Electronics store BestBuy has already kicked off its “Bigger Sale” event to compete with Amazon Prime Day. If you’re in the market for some of the hottest electronics, this could be worth looking into.

The Samsung 15” Chromebook, for example, is already on sale for $249, which is $50 off the original price tag. More deals are expected to go live daily.

Amazon Competitor Sales

Some of Amazon’s direct competitors are joining the fray too.

Walmart

Walmart’s “Deals for Days” event will kick off on June 20 and end on June 23 — beating Prime Day by a full day before and after. Last year, we saw deals such as an Echelon Connect indoor cycling bike for $499, down from $599, as well as the popular Super Mario Party Nintendo Switch game for only $39.99, originally $59.88. Even Apple AirPods Pro were on sale for $199, down from $249 originally.

While the deals aren’t live just yet, you can expect to see deals across technology, appliances, entertainment and more.

Target

Target’s “Deal Days” will be taking place on June 20 through June 22, a day longer than Amazon Prime Day but one day shorter than Walmart’s Deals for Days event. The deals will be online only, and there will be new deals added each day of the sale. Expect discounts on electronics, home essentials, toys, beauty, and even grocery items. The chain has not announced specifically what items will go on sale.

Additionally, Target gift cards are 5% off from June 16 through June 19. This can be a quick way to save an additional 5% on purchases by using a gift card during the event.

Cash Back Portals

A way to save on all online purchases, not just on Prime Day or competing sales, is to use a cash back portal such as Rakuten or Capital One Shopping, which can help save you significant cash on everyday purchases. Cash back services are open to anyone, and do not depend on what type of credit card you use.

Most of the time these cash back deals range from 1% to 5% cash back, but there are elevated offers that pop up frequently — such as Rakuten’s Shop Like a Winner event, taking place from June 21 to 23.

During this time, you’ll be able to get 10% cash back from a wide variety of stores, including Athleta, Macy’s, Nike and Gap, just to name a few.

Bottom Line

If you’re in the market for any electronics, appliances, apparel and other gadgets, this week is shaping up to be a good one to take the plunge. With site deals popping up across many popular retailers — plus the option to incorporate some additional cash back — there’s potential for some pretty significant savings.
