United Quest Card Full Review

Card Type

The United Quest Card* is a travel rewards credit card for United flyers.

Annual Fee

The United Quest Card has a $250 annual fee.

Welcome Offer

You can earn 80,000 bonus miles if you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.

Rewards

The United Quest Card will earn you 3 miles per dollar on United Airlines purchases, 2 miles per dollar on dining, other travel (other airfare, hotels, car rentals, and more) and select streaming services, and 1 mile per dollar on everything else. In addition to earning miles, you will also get a $125 annual purchase credit toward United purchases you make with the card.

Fees

This card has a $250 annual fee and a variable APR of 17.24%-24.24%. You’ll also pay late payment and returned payment fees of up to $40, and if you pay late you may be subject to a penalty APR up to 29.99%.

There’s no foreign transaction fee for purchases you make abroad.

How to Use United Quest Card

When you first get the United Quest card, if your budget allows, you’ll want to spend $5,000 in the first three months to hit the minimum spending requirement to earn 80,000 bonus miles. Of course, it’s important to practice financial responsibility and not spend more than you can afford just because you are paying with a credit card. Like all travel rewards cards, the United Quest has a fairly high variable APR, so we strongly recommend paying your bills on time and in full every month to avoid paying interest.

You’ll also want to be sure to pay for any upcoming United Airlines flights with the card, as you’ll earn 3 miles per dollar on that purchase. Those miles can add up quickly and you can later redeem them for flights on United Airlines or any of its partners. You’ll also earn 2 miles per dollar on dining, travel, and select streaming categories so this is a good pick for those purchases, as well.

When you pay for a United Airlines flight with the card, you’ll also have access to priority boarding and will be able to check your first and second bag free. If you’re traveling with a companion who is also booked on your reservation, they will also get their first and second checked bag free. You can also get 25% off in-flight food, beverage and Wi-Fi purchases on United when you use the card.

You’ll also want to activate your 12-month complimentary DoorDash DashPass membership by December 31, 2024. This membership is valued at $9.99 per month, and comes with $0 delivery fees on eligible orders, as well as discounted service fees.

Is the United Quest Card Right for You?

If you’re a frequent United Airlines flyer, the United Quest card could be a great fit for you. While the card does have a high $250 annual fee, it comes with notable perks including a $125 annual United purchase credit, which can help you save money on your United-related expenses, as well as 25% off in-flight purchases, priority boarding, free first and second checked bags when flying United, and two 5,000-mile award certificates.

That said, if you don’t fly United enough to take advantage of all of these benefits, or typically fly other airlines such as Delta or American Airlines, this won’t be the best fit for you. The same sentiment applies if you’re looking for a more flexible travel rewards credit card that can help you earn points that you can later redeem for both flights and hotel stays with a variety of partners, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card.
