Ideas and forms that appear and dis­appear as if they are prophecies in her drawings, sculptures, photographs, and performances. The Black Brazilian artist’s colorful artworks—and her poetic and fantastical writing—invite us to perceive ordinary events as hidden revelations. Her enigmatic capacity to find beauty beyond categorization fascinated me when curating the commission of her critically acclaimed installation _Ave Preta Mística (Mystical Black Bird)_ for the 35th Bienal de São Paulo in 2023\. I will never forget witnessing how mystical words and pastel drawings gave wings to her extraordinary multi­sensory installation, composed of floor-to-­ceiling charcoal drawings, sticks of bamboo, golden eggshells, colored powder, and fruits.
