In October 1978, Roisinblit’s daughter Patricia was abducted by Argentina’s civic-military dictatorship when she was eight months pregnant. Patricia, a former member of the Montoneros, a leftist guerilla group, was one of thousands who were captured, tortured, and killed by the nation’s tyrannical regime between 1976 and 1983\. The whereabouts of Patricia’s baby, like those of hundreds of other victims who were pregnant at the time of their abductions, remained a mystery for decades. Roisinblit’s fight for justice alongside the other Abuelas would put them at odds with Argentina’s government and lead to the emergence of important new DNA science, which would result in the [identification of 140 children who were kidnapped](https://www.batimes.com.ar/news/argentina/abuelas-de-plaza-de-mayo-identify-140th-grandchild-born-in-dictatorship-captivity.phtml) by the state.
