Acemate’s rechargeable machine catches balls in its net and shoots one back, with full-court coverage up to about 16 feet per second on all surface types. Users can set the robot’s returning speed and height via a companion phone app, which also offers post-play feedback detailing a player’s shot placements, average speeds, and other data points. Acemate says the robot can serve balls up to 80 mph. Just like humans, it can’t return every shot; but 90% is pretty good.
