Fallon—AFP/Getty Images The U.S. Cyber Trust Mark is the government’s bid to bring nutrition-label clarity to connected devices. Unveiled last year, devices like smart doorbells, routers, and baby monitors can carry a QR-coded shield logo certifying they meet baseline cybersecurity standards set by the FCC and NIST, including consumer-friendly security controls and automatic updates. The label, when scanned, will tell customers security-related information about that specific product including a configuration manual. As of September, the project appeared to be on hold as the FCC had [launched an investigation](https://www.cybersecuritydive.com/news/fcc-cyber-trust-mark-ul-investigation-delay/758507/) into the private company that vets the project, though experts say delays in implementing the cybersecurity solution puts Americans at risk. The FCC did not respond to requests for comment about the status of the program.
