Courtesy Proprio Over [1 million](https://www.jointcommission.org/en-us/certification/orthopedic "undefined") spine surgeries are performed annually in the U.S., but [success rates are low](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5913031/ "undefined"), leading to repeat operations. Proprio’s Paradigm is an [FDA-cleared](https://www.americanhhm.com/technotrends/fda-approved-proprios-first-of-its-kind-ai-surgical-guidance-technology "undefined"), real-time 3D surgical guidance system to improve outcomes. It uses arrays of sensors and cameras to build a live digital twin of the patient’s body that acts as a map—and also requires fewer traditional scans, thus reducing radiation exposure. The platform has already been used in over 100 procedures with revision-surgery risk dropping from about 50% to less than 10%, the company says. After its [first clearance](https://www.propriovision.com/news/first-light-field-enabled-spine-surgery-navigation-platform-proprio-paradigm-tm-receives-fda-clearance "undefined") in 2023, Paradigm has rolled out to [top medical centers](https://www.propriovision.com/news/proprio-receives-fda-clearance-for-the-worlds-first-ai-surgical-guidance-platform "undefined") such as Duke Health.
