--- --- Oct 09, 2025 # Eisai and Biogen Leqembi Iqlik At-home Alzheimer's treatment by [Alice Park](/author/alice-park/) ## Alice Park Senior Correspondent  Courtesy Eisai and Biogen Patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease can now treat themselves at home with the latest drug for the neurodegenerative disease. In August, the FDA approved the first self-injectable form of lecanemab, which was originally approved in 2023 as an IV infusion that people had to receive at a clinic or hospital. The drug slows progression of the disease by reducing the build up of different forms of the protein amyloid in the brain. Patients give themselves the injections of the at-home version, called Leqembi Iqlik, using an auto-injector. Iqlik is approved as a maintenance treatment for Alzheimer’s, so once patients complete a round of treatment with the IV infusions over 1.5 years, they can then transition to Iqlik to maintain the benefits of the drug.
