Since its founding in 2017, [Gatik’s success](https://time.com/collection/best-inventions-2022/6229910/gatik-driverless-box-trucks/ "undefined") has come from owning one lane: short-haul, fixed-route autonomous deliveries between distribution centers and stores for clients like Walmart and Kroger. CEO Gautam Narang says Gatik is already “running the largest autonomous trucking fleet in North America,” but last year set its sights on more ambitious expansion. In 2024, the company partnered with Isuzu to mass-produce SAE Level 4 autonomous trucks (which can drive fully independently on certain routes); it is now operating daily driverless operations in Texas, Arkansas, California, and Ontario, Canada.
