CiviForm is an open-source software that consolidates public program applications into one streamlined, easy-to-use platform. While the project began during the pandemic as a joint effort between Seattle and Google.org, developers recognized its greater potential; the system moved to civic tech firm Exygy for broader deployment in 2023\. “Other governments were all struggling with this exact same problem,” says Isabel Shaw, Exygy’s chief product officer. Now used in U.S. cities including Charlotte, N.C., and Bloomington, Ind., as well as the state of Arkansas, CiviForm serves more than 8 million people.
