**Methodology:** [**How TIME and Statista Determined the Best Employers**](https://time.com/7311137/worlds-best-employers-methodology/)

TIME and Statista launched the inaugural list of the Best Employers of 2025, based on independent employee surveys conducted in countries around the world, beginning with Brazil, India, and Australia. In Brazil, over 500,000 employer evaluations were gathered, and the 500 companies where employees were most willing to recommend their employer were ranked on the list. The top three industries on the list are retail, wholesale, and distribution; followed by chemicals, raw materials, mining; then IT, internet, software, and services.

This year, Brazil’s top employer is Microsoft, which has been present in the country for over 30 years and employs around 1,300 professionals in the country, and over the past few years has made substantial efforts to [develop cloud and AI infrastructure locally](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-cloud/blog/2024/10/17/colombia-and-brazil-embrace-the-potential-of-cloud-and-ai-solutions-to-drive-growth-and-tackle-social-challenges/) in response to the digital transformation taking place across industries like finance, retail, healthcare, and energy in the country. The company announced [a 14.7 billion Reais](https://news.microsoft.com/pt-br/microsoft-announces-14-7-billion-reais-investment-over-three-years-in-cloud-and-ai-infrastructure-and-provide-ai-training-at-scale-to-upskill-5-million-people-in-brazil/) investment (\~$2.7 billion USD) in September 2024, along with a commitment to train 5 million people over the next three years with AI skills in collaboration with 26 organizations, including governments, educational institutions, and nonprofits. The [International Labor Organization](https://www.ilo.org/publications/buffer-or-bottleneck-employment-exposure-generative-ai-and-digital-divide) predicts that 26-38% of jobs in Latin America and the Caribbean could be exposed to Generative AI, which could create [uneven productivity gaps](https://documents1.worldbank.org/curated/en/099651304222510162/pdf/IDU-986795d5-3e31-4855-86cd-2bcbe98b6528.pdf) caused by barriers to innovation and technology adoption. According to [AI Asia Pacific Institute](https://aiasiapacific.org/2025/02/17/the-ai-landscape-in-brazil/), Brazil is a leader in AI innovation in Latin America. “We believe the AI economy can be a powerful engine for sustainable development,” Priscyla Laham, General Manager of Microsoft Brazil, tells TIME. She cites a 2020 study by consulting firm FrontierView that found AI adoption could add up to 1.8 percentage points to Brazil’s GDP growth by 2030.

The new investment builds on programs like [Mais Brazil and Conecta+](https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/hope-opportunity-microsofts-skilling-initiatives-brazil-kate-behncken-gwihc) that have been active since 2020 to bridge the talent gap in Brazil’s Information and Communication Technology sector. In 2024, Conecta+ evolved into ConectAI to equip people with AI skills. Since launching, ConectAI has trained 5.1 million people and certified 2.5 million in AI-related skills. Surveys conducted by Brazil’s Ministry of Labor and Employment and internal evaluations show that at least 14% of ConectAI participants who were previously unemployed secured new jobs or received promotions after completing the training programs, says Laham.
