She’s been acting for 23 years—and she’s only 27!—building an extraordinary career from _Ramona and Beezus,_ _The Dark Knight Rises,_ and _Crazy, Stupid, Love_ to _The Act,_ _Bullet Train,_ and _We Were the Lucky Ones,_ always with curiosity, courage, humor, and a willingness to take risks. 

Onscreen, she’s been my daughter _(_[_A Family Affair_](https://time.com/6993661/a-family-affair-review/)_)_ and now my niece _(Practical Magic 2)._ But Joey has become so much more to me off-screen. She’s someone I love and trust, and someone I know will be in my life long after the cameras stop rolling.
