As TIME’s inaugural design partner and the event’s sponsor, Target helped kick off the evening with remarks from Gena Fox, Target's SVP and head of design, and Isaac Mizrahi, the brand's first-ever creative director at large. Together, they highlighted how Target is continuing its commitment to great design for all by mentoring emerging designers and supporting creative talent, while celebrating the next generation of leaders and changemakers shaping what's possible.  ### **Honoring What’s Next** Reflecting on Target's design legacy and its future, Fox reinforced the company's commitment to great design for all. “What makes our approach different is not creating great design for a select few, but creating it for everyone.” That philosophy shapes how Target approaches products and experiences, bringing together emerging trends, thoughtful functionality and everyday value to meet the needs of its guests. But Target's commitment goes beyond the products on its shelves. As Fox shared, “It's also about investing in people, advancing our craft and sharing our advancements with the design industry, and making design more accessible to the broader community.” One example is Target's partnership with the Arthritis Foundation, through which the company is developing open design guidelines and standards to help make products and packaging easier to open and use for people living with arthritis and chronic pain. Another example is the products the company delivers every day that are stylish, affordable and joyful. Featured in their lounge activation during the event included Target furniture and Threshold faux fur throws and pillows, starting at just $30, delivering on the style, design and value that guests love. It also featured Target’s soft and comforting Gigglescape bear, which Target is donating $3 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for each bear sold, an example of how Target gives back to the community through design. That commitment to advancing design also extends to the people shaping its future. Mizrahi's return to Target as its first-ever creative director at large marks a new chapter in the brand's design legacy. In his role, he's helping support emerging designers through mentorship and collaboration, while drawing inspiration from the talent within Target's own design team. “It's exciting to return in this new capacity, surrounded by people who share that same curiosity, imagination, and drive to create,” Mizrahi said.
