Each year, an estimated 4.2 million young people in the United States experience a form of homelessness, the vast majority not by choice. The causes are complex and compounded, but certain risk factors can increase a young persons chances of experiencing homelessness with LGBTQ+ youth, pregnant and parenting youth, and young people of color being the most vulnerable. Covenant House is an organization that provides support and services to youth facing homelessness and survivors of human trafficking. They operate shelters, offer education and job training programs, and provide resources to address their mental, social, physical, and educational needs to help them build lives of success and independence. As the largest, primarily privately funded charity in North and Central America providing immediate and long-term support for young people facing homelessness, Covenant House relies on support from partners to continue helping young people when they need it most. Since 2019, Kia's "Accelerate the Good” Program has donated $22 million to local communities and organizations nationwide like Covenant House to help them support those who need it most.
