##### Satoyaku is supporting everyday health

Seventy years of experience in the contract pharmaceutical business has given Nara-based Satoyaku (Sato Yakuhin) the expertise to take on one of society’s most pressing health issues: heatstroke. Whether in Paris, Bangkok or Tokyo, heatwaves in major cities have made headlines this year for all the wrong reasons, with record temperatures leading to thousands of hospitalizations. Ensuring that the body stays hydrated, all while maintaining an adequate balance of electrolytes, is key to staying healthy in the heat.

Satoyaku has developed its novel “RED-Q” electrolyte formula in collaboration with local fire departments to combat this issue. Backed by its expertise in pharmaceutical production, the company created RED-Q to provide an instantaneous burst of electrolytes in the body, helping maintain healthy levels throughout the day. Plans are already underway for new formulations for children and the elderly too. “Given the demographic shifts in Japan, it is essential to ensure that our products are easy for people to use,” said president Masahiro Sato. “We believe this will have strong potential in Southeast Asian and EU markets, where awareness of heatstroke is growing.”

As Satoyaku expands its global presence, Sato has set the goal of becoming “familiar with people.” With plans for physical retail stores and partnerships with overseas research organizations already in the pipeline, the company is committed to becoming a valued member of the wider international community, in the name of health.
