As part of the firm’s key infrastructure focus, its water pipeline sealing device includes balloons that can be used to stop water flow to allow for repair works—a pressing issue with 740,000 km of water pipes and over 490,000 km of sewage pipes requiring maintenance in Japan in the near future.With flooding an increasing concern across Japan, Mutsubishi Rubber’s work in this field extends to pipe bypass technology and the Shell Cover II, which can prevent stormwater backflow.
