Meisei Industrial is rapidly scaling its insulation technology.

A key part of the global sustainability shift is the move away from fossil fuels toward cleaner, more energy-dense alternatives such as “green” ammonia and hydrogen. While methods for producing these fuels using renewable energy sources like wind and solar have already been commercialized, safely transporting them remains a major challenge. Liquid hydrogen, for example, must be stored at – 253°C (for comparison, outer space is roughly – 270°C). This creates major logistical hurdles for ocean transport, but also opportunities for specialized cryogenics firms. Osaka-based Meisei Industrial has risen to the challenge.

Meisei has established itself as a niche leader in insulation, becoming a trusted partner for hydrogen storage projects around the world. A key factor behind the company’s international success has been its diverse recruitment strategy: hiring talent from Indonesia, Nepal and the Philippines while maintaining Japanese quality standards. To ensure efficiency and quality control, Meisei also handles all prefabrication in-house at its factory in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka. As more plants and ships transition to ammonia, LNG and hydrogen power, the company is ready to supply both materials and technical expertise worldwide. “In order to maintain our business scale, we must expand globally,” said Meisei Industrial President Tetsuji Yanase. “We are keen to expand our presence in Southeast Asia; we already have a presence in Indonesia, with partnerships in place that could serve as a foundation for expansion into other markets.”
