Even in the age of mass production, automation technology and cost-cutting competition, successful Japanese businesses still prioritize traditional quality above all else. No matter the size of the company or the nature of the product, working to the highest possible standards remains an inherent part of the corporate mindset.

Shun Tsuji, president of jewelry firm Kishun Inc. believes this is vital. “All Japanese companies are known for attention to detail. This can apply to many areas, from food to clothing and cars. It all comes down to customer trust,” said Tsuji. Keiko Fukusawa, president of commercial furniture firm Kotobuki Seating Co., Ltd. champions durability, noting that “_Monozukuri_ for us is more than just creating quality products; it also includes good design and function that lasts for decades.” For Masatoshi Kato, president of Karimoku Furniture Inc., the product’s lifespan is crucial. He said “We have upgraded the upholstery, paint and materials used for the Japanese market, ensuring durability, as well as offering maintenance services.” Tatsushichi Iwata, president of shoe firm Madras Inc., agreed. “Since 1921, we have dedicated ourselves to crafting high-quality shoes to be cherished and worn for many years,” said Iwata. For Azuma Abe, president of Dartslive Co., Ltd. the key is to embrace quality and tech innovation. “Overall, technology is not our competitive edge, but rather our ability to expand the nature of darts. Thanks to technology, we have been able to invent new ways to enjoy it,” said Abe.
