Ayumu Okada, President and CEO, sees key demographic shifts, including a rapidly aging population, as a compass for addressing future social needs. “Healthcare professionals are distributed unevenly and are concentrated mainly in major cities, leaving rural areas chronically understaffed. To close this gap, remote patient monitoring services along with home monitoring will be essential,” she said. Core to the company’s strategy is developing devices to track vital signs and digital platforms to share data with medical professionals. “With OMRON Connect Pro initiatives, we partner with hospitals and use data to prevent cardiovascular disease and improve heart health. Remote patient monitoring extends the reach of these efforts, allowing clinicians to track patients’ conditions remotely and deliver timely interventions, even in communities where access to healthcare is limited,” Okada said. Each year, an estimated 17.9 million people die from cardiovascular disease, a figure expected to rise with worsening lifestyle factors and an aging population. To address this, OMRON has set out its “Going for ZERO” vision to raise awareness of preventive care. “While many people track their blood pressure, it’s equally important to detect AFib (atrial fibrillation). We’ve been developing Intellisense AFib, an AI-powered algorithm that analyzes vital data to detect possible AFib through daily home monitoring.
