TIME CEO Jessica Sibley sat down with Alisha Moopen, Managing Director and Group CEO of [Aster DM Healthcare](https://www.asterdmhealthcare.com/) to discuss the deeply personal mission driving one of the fastest-growing healthcare networks across the Middle East and India.

What began in 1987 as a single-doctor clinic founded by Alisha’s father - Dr. Azad Moopen in Dubai has evolved into one of the largest integrated healthcare network spanning seven countries, serving more than 25 million patients annually. At its core is a simple but powerful belief: healthcare is a basic human right, not a privilege. That ethos continues to shape Aster’s promise to patients to treat them well as it scales both its reach and its impact.

Ms. Moopen emphasized the importance of Aster’s integrated “Circle of Care” model in the Gulf Countries, which connects 15 hospitals, 126 clinics, 333 pharmacies, and digital health platforms like myAster to create a seamless patient journey. In a system often defined by fragmentation, continuity is key to better outcomes and more human-centered care.

Even as Aster invests in AI, robotics, and digital innovation, Alisha is clear-eyed about technology’s role. The goal is not to replace human connection, but to enhance it, freeing up clinicians to spend more time with patients, a philosophy that extends beyond infrastructure. From maternal health initiatives in underserved regions like Zanzibar to a broader commitment to health equity, Moopen framed Aster’s work as both a professional mandate and a personal legacy, one rooted in preserving not just lives, but the dreams that depend on them.
