The sport is on the rise again, and gyms are reporting increased interest and rising sign-ups. Entrepreneurs saw the potential and have flooded the market with new brands and promises regarding their equipment. However, boxing equipment has seen comparatively little evolution compared to other popular sports. Often, it’s just a cheap knock-off of what exists, with a new logo and sleek marketing. An American brand has been pushing for a change in recent years, with positive feedback from users and trainers.

Hit N Move founder Ozhan Akcakaya has a background in the pharmaceutical industry and has applied those standards to the engineering and design of boxing gloves. He’s been campaigning for years now that ‘boxing deserves better.’

Today, they hold multiple innovations, boast a successful partnership with Virginia Tech’s helmet testing program, and have found a place in the rotation of many professional boxers.

The scientific approach to gear not only gives the brand a distinct talking point for potential customers but also helps establish clearer performance benchmarks for choosing a quality product. The ProFist Principles, as they have been called, are among the earliest of their kind: a set of guidelines with clear measurements for determining the quality, strengths, and weaknesses of a boxing glove.

Hit N Move’s advantage may be that all of their gloves are built to meet the principles, giving them a strong edge in their baseline quality. Combined with reliably high craftsmanship, the use of superior materials such as Turkish designer leather and silky liners, the gloves have gained significant attention within the sport. Innovation after innovation, with some developments drawing attention across the boxing equipment industry. It’s fair to say that it was Hit N Move’s celebrated Süvari line that initiated a new wave of releases featuring horse hair padding. The brand had not only revived the traditional material in their line, but also sophisticated it with a modern foam mix, allowing modern boxers to experience the best of both worlds.

**How Do Other Brands Profit From This?**

While cheap, low-quality products will probably not meet all the criteria for the Pro Fist standard, established, more premium-targeted brands can use them as a guideline. The newly educated consumer will apply their knowledge when investing in a fresh pair of gloves. If a brand with a big price tag and a fantastic brand image offers a glove without proper wrist alignment, sufficient padding, proper ergonomic weight distribution, or a flat punching surface, the potential buyer can spot it and consider it. No marketing budget should convince a boxer to buy an inferior product when it comes to their protection and performance, particularly not at a hefty price point.

Ozhan Akcakaya and [Hit N Move](https://www.hitnmove.com) are inviting brands worldwide to follow suit and bring innovative products to market that continue to raise the standard.

**How Do Professional Boxers Feel?**

When it comes to the gear professional boxers publicly sport, the situation isn’t as clear-cut as assuming that whatever is seen is always the preferred choice based on performance and quality. Big established brands are deeply integrated into the boxing industry, which has always involved sponsorship deals. However, sometimes it’s the most historic names that have forgotten to honor their legacy with appropriate products. Instead, poor-quality equipment is being sold with high margins, with the name as the only justification.

Hit N Move’s Ozhan Akcakaya has been very clear that the brand has not been involved in these patterns. While he has gifted friends such as former super featherweight world champion Lamont Roach exclusive pairs of his gloves, no athlete is paid to exclusively wear the American brand’s equipment. This is in strong contrast to common marketing methods in the sport.

And yet, there are now many professional gyms around the world where Hit N Move gear can be found. Beyond their gloves, they introduced a lighter-weight approach to headguard design. The fact that the gear has found its way into the highest stages of boxing, such as recent Toprank main events, as well as the big gyms around the world, speaks volumes.

A recent launch is especially well received amongst professionals: fight-glove-sized gloves with heavy padding options, allowing athletes to train with resistance while using the same size gloves they use in a fight. Innovation that actually serves top-performing boxers, and isn’t meant to catch unknown hobbyists with wild marketing claims. At an event at Miami’s Boxr gym about a month ago, Ryan Garcia and David Benavidez were seen using the compact series gloves and commenting positively on the concept and execution.

And it’s this reception that many glove makers may aim for within the industry. Genuine appreciation for the product by the most qualified users of it. No shortcuts or sponsorships, simple focus on a glove that brings more, or at the very least, something new to the market.

Of course, other brands enrich the market with attempts at innovation, as well as reliable, quality products. Hit N Move’s status as a highly innovative brand with a strong reputation for quality is notable. The company also regularly updates its products based on customer feedback and evolving research and development insights, to continuously refine its gear, without the need to make big announcements—it’s simply part of the policy and philosophy.

UK boxing equipment YouTuber Fit2Box, who is regarded as one of the most popular and credible boxing gear reviewers, described the Hit N Move Süvari glove as one of the standout boxing gloves currently available, with two more of the brand’s models in his top five. The reviewer is among the other major channels on the platform that have expressed their praise and respect for the work of the Virginia-based boxing innovators.

The innovation comes at a time of growth that the sport may not have experienced at this scale in many years. New promotions, fighters, and social media figures have brought new eyes to the art of boxing. And even more so, motivated more people to head to their local boxing gym to learn, whether as hobbyists or with the intention of competing. What’s different in 2026 is that women are also more welcome in boxing gyms, leading to a larger pool of new athletes. Without a doubt, the revival of what is by many considered the most noble of all sports is very positive news. Large audiences at women’s boxing events, along with multiple promotions and platforms offering opportunities to more boxers, reflect the sport’s continued growth and momentum.

And while the boxers, young and old, new and experienced, work toward their goals and dreams, they should be supported with quality equipment and protective gear designed to support their training needs, because boxing is the people in the sport. And boxing does indeed deserve better.
