In an [interview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLnB5l1PxCY) with The New York Post’s “Pod Force One” that was released on Wednesday, Trump said that the Republican party has “a lot of talent,” when asked about potential contenders for the 2028 presidential race. But he singled out Vance and Rubio, saying “they’re both great; I like them both. And I like them together.” “They’re very talented,” Trump said. “And I think the two of them running together as a team would be very unbeatable.” He also said, though, that “they have to agree to it” and that there was still “a long time left” before the 2028 election. Trump Discusses 2028 Presidential Ticket At The White House This isn’t the first time Trump—who in the past has [repeatedly floated](https://time.com/7328837/trump-third-term-steve-bannon-strategy-lame-duck-republicans-democrats/) the idea that he himself might [seek a third term](https://time.com/7281485/is-trump-seeking-a-third-term-rally-comments-election-denial/), which would violate the [22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution](https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/amdt22-1/ALDE%5F00001008/#:~:text=No%20person%20shall%20be%20elected,the%20President%20more%20than%20once.)—has [suggested](https://time.com/article/2026/05/12/vance-rubio-2028-presidential-ticket-trump-comments/) that Vance and Rubio would be strong candidates to succeed him in the White House.
