At a TIME100 Talk on Friday night in Miami, just a few miles from the breakneck vehicular speed on display at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, business leaders gathered to talk about the rapid acceleration of a different kind: the [evolution of technology](https://time.com/collection/time100-summit-gala/2026/women-leading-era-of-transformation/).

On a panel titled “The Recharge Gap: Rethinking Recovery, Resilience, and Readiness,” Sarah Meron, chief corporate affairs and brand officer of IBM; Kaylen McNamara, chief business officer of VaynerX; and Olivia Ramos, chief executive officer of Deepblocks, spoke about their experiences with what moderator Nikhil Kumar, executive editor at TIME, referred to as the “blistering pace of change” that companies across industries have had to face recently. As AI tools become more widely used and increasingly specialized, many business leaders are trying to think quickly and creatively about how to best utilize this technology at nearly [every level of their operations](https://time.com/collection/time100-summit-gala/2026/innovation-reimagined-customer-first-experience/).

Even 115-year-old tech companies are no exception. “If IBM wasn't ready to embrace change, we would not exist anymore,” Meron said. “By embracing technological change, we've managed to survive in an incredibly competitive environment.”

**Read more**: [_Women Business Leaders on How To Solve AI’s Inclusivity Problem_](https://time.com/collection/time100-summit-gala/2026/women-leading-era-of-transformation/)

Meron also spoke to the ways in which she sees AI as particularly useful in a person’s day-to-day work life. “I’m not a doomer about this,” she quipped. “I tell my team, ‘Identify the tasks that you have no interest in and let AI do \[them\].’”

McNamara of VaynerX, a marketing and communications company, also echoed the importance of “practitionership” when it comes to new technologies, especially from a leadership standpoint. “I, myself, put eight to 10 hours a week sometimes into understanding the latest AI tools,” she said.

She’s also quick to offer similar advice to her clients, even if they’re just focused on social media strategy for now. “We ask them, ‘Have you been on TikTok this week? Do you understand what's changing about LinkedIn’s B2B product?’” McNamara continued, “I think if you look under the hood of a lot of innovation and change, there's a lot of pattern recognition.”

For Ramos, taking advantage of advancements in AI has likely always been a no-brainer—her company was built on it. She explained that Deepblocks uses artificial intelligence to “digitize cities’ zoning ordinances and other data sets to identify opportunities for \[real estate\] investment.” The latest AI technology has allowed Ramos’ team to work “as effectively as possible” to digitize the [more than 19,000 municipalities](https://www.census.gov/newsroom/releases/archives/governments/cb12-161.html) that exist in the U.S. “We’re constantly pivoting to improve the speed and growth of our business,” she said.

And although AI in particular is extremely top of mind these days, there are past—and future—technologies that are just as important to factor into business operations, too. McNamara mentioned that VaynerX is tracking a perceived increased interest among [Generation Alpha](https://www.britannica.com/topic/Generation-Alpha), or kids born between 2010 and 2025, in the analog. “We have a collectibles division, because we think physical goods are going to matter,” she said.

At Deepblocks, Ramos and her team are using the trajectory of Wall Street to help gauge the future of her industry. “We think fractional trading in real estate will mimic what's happened in the stock market in the last 40 years; that real estate could be traded by automatic systems,” she explained. “So we’re building the infrastructure for this type of trading.”

Meanwhile, IBM is making leaps in the world of [quantum computing](https://www.ibm.com/think/topics/quantum-computing), an advanced field of science that uses quantum mechanics to outfit machines with the capability to solve problems at hyperspeed. The company now operates [the world’s largest fleet of quantum systems](https://time.com/collection/time100-most-influential-companies/2026/ibm/).

Before the end of the night, Kumar asked Meron what would happen if IBM’s “big bet” on this particular technology ended up going wrong.

“It is always a possibility,” she said. “But I would say, all the companies that have been around for 100-plus years and are not on this stage … it’s mostly because they didn’t take a shot, right?”
