U.S. negotiators are traveling to [Pakistan](https://time.com/article/2026/04/09/by-hosting-u-s--iran-talks-pakistan-eyes-an-unlikely-rebrand-as-peace-broker/) this week to resume negotiations aimed at ending the conflict, Trump said. It is not yet clear whether Iran will participate in talks. Tehran rejected further peace talks, [state news agency IRNA](https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/trump-iran-cite-progress-talks-uncertainty-hangs-over-strait-2026-04-19/) reported Sunday, citing what it described as Washington’s “excessive demands,” “unrealistic expectations,” and the continuation of a U.S. naval blockade. The report did not name a specific official.
