In the April 12 premiere, we were thrown right back into the thick of the hyper-stylized, Wild West version of Southern California inhabited by Rue (Zendaya) and her peers. And—spoiler alert—the time-jump doesn't seem to have alleviated too many of these characters' issues. The episode opened with Rue, now in her early 20s, completing a treacherous drug run across the Mexican border in an extended sequence that certainly captured what creator, writer, and executive producer Sam Levinson has described as "this feeling that at any second, you can die." In an interview with the [New York _Times_](https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/08/arts/television/sam-levinson-euphoria-season-3.html), Levinson said the season is intended to embody the themes of "good and evil, freedom, \[and\] its consequences." He's also revealed that he "intentionally wanted to do something different" from the first two seasons. Rather than something "more musical and propulsive," Levinson told _Rolling Stone_ his thinking was, "Well, why don’t I try doing it as a television show, where there’s more dialogue, where you get to live with the characters a bit more, and it’s not so frenetic and speedy?" We're still waiting to see how those structural switch-ups will play out over the course of Season 3's eight episodes. But for now, we already have a few questions following that chaotic premiere. ## Will Rue ever learn?  Martha Kelly as Laurie in the Euphoria Season 3 premiere. HBO In the wake of Laurie (Martha Kelly) catching up with her and letting her know that, due to interest, Rue now owes her over $43 million—although she'll settle for $100,000—as repayment for the $10,000 worth of drugs Rue's mom flushed down the toilet in Season 2, Rue is forced to start working for Laurie as a drug mule to pay off her debt. This involves such unpleasant tasks as swallowing dozens of drug balloons to transport them across the border before retrieving them out the other end, trying to drive over the border wall using a haphazardly constructed and ill-conceived ramp, and hiking across the Texas wilderness after the car Laurie loaned her is stranded in the process of attempting the aforementioned wall-scaling. However, when Rue finds herself delivering some of Laurie's supply to another ruthless kingpin, strip-club mogul and wannabe-cowboy Alamo Brown (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), she's quick to attach her horse to his cart. At this rate, Rue's gonna find herself in hot water with every crime lord in the American Southwest. ## What's up with Jules?  Hunter Schafer as Jules in Euphoria Season 3. Patrick Wymore—HBO We got a brief mention of Jules (Hunter Schafer) when Lexi (Maude Apatow) told Rue she heard Jules is now a sugar baby—or as Maddy (Alexa Demie) put it, "a hooker." However, Jules never actually made an appearance in the premiere, leaving us wondering what's really going on with her. We know from [comments Levinson made at a HBO press event](https://variety.com/2025/tv/global/euphoria-season-3-release-date-april-1236598979/) in December that Jules is now in art school and "very nervous about having a career as a painter" while "trying to avoid responsibility at all costs." Being a high-end sugar baby sounds like it could fit right in with that description. But where will that path ultimately lead her? And how is her storyline going to tie back in with the lives of the rest of the group? Assuming she and Rue eventually reconnect, is there a chance they'll reconcile their romantic relationship? ## What's going to happen at Nate and Cassie's wedding?  Sydney Sweeney as Cassie in Euphoria Season 3. Patrick Wymore—HBO Levinson has confirmed Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Nate (Jacob Elordi) will "in fact get married." But there's clearly already more than a little trouble in what already wasn't paradise where the high school pseudo-sweethearts are concerned. Despite the fact that they're in the midst of planning their wedding—and fighting over how many thousands of dollars it's appropriate to spend on florals for the big day—Cassie and Nate don't really seem to like each other all too much. And with the Season 3 trailer suggesting Maddy will soon reenter the picture, we can't help but wonder if the specter of their toxic love triangle will end up playing a role in that "unforgettable night." ## Is Maddy over what happened with Cassie?  Alexa Demie as Maddy in Euphoria Season 3. Jeremy Colegrove—HBO Speaking of Maddy, for now, she's busy carving out a career at a Hollywood talent agency. But we know from the [Season 3 trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3Z4tGN0i2I) she's eventually going to end up trying to help Cassie get her OnlyFans off the ground—or something along those lines. Considering Season 2 ended with Maddy attacking Cassie over her betrayal with Nate, we have a hard time believing Maddy's intentions are totally pure when it comes to her former best friend and ex-boyfriend. As Nate pointedly asks Cassie in the preview, "What do you think she wants?" Well Nate, we're wondering the same thing. ## How is this show going to end?  Jacob Elordi as Nate in the Euphoria Season 3 premiere. Patrick Wymore—HBO During an April 6 appearance on _The Drew Barrymore Show_, [Zendaya said](https://people.com/zendaya-says-euphoria-season-3-will-be-last-11943911) she thinks Season 3 will be the final season of _Euphoria_ and that "closure is coming." Levinson has also said there are "no plans" for a fourth season. Naturally, that begs the question of how exactly this show is going to wrap up. While the premiere seemed to be setting up some pretty dark storylines for the remaining seven episodes, Levinson has shared he "wanted to tell a story where hope and light could still be felt in the darkness." Let's hope that means at least some of these characters get relatively happy endings.
