Early polling days after the U.S. and Israel [jointly struck Iran on Feb. 28](https://time.com/7382631/iran-israel-us-war-explainer-trump-middle-east/) showed [disapproval](https://time.com/7382231/iran-us-israel-war-support-polling-trump-republicans-democrats/) among most Americans, amid a [lack of a clear rationale](https://time.com/article/2026/03/10/how-trump-and-vance-differed-on-iran-war/) and uncertainty over how long the conflict would draw out.
