In a statement issued via state media, Iranian military official Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi [said](https://t.me/Tasnimnews/400452) the country’s armed forces are "committed to defending the dignity and victory of Iran, and will continue this proud path.” Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also [pledged](https://t.me/Tasnimnews/400397) to launch heavy missile and drone attacks at Israeli military personnel in northern Israel and near Gaza unless Israel ceases strikes in Lebanon and Gaza. [Ali Larijani](https://time.com/article/2026/03/17/israel-reports-killing-iranian-security-official-ali-larijani-gholamreza-soleimani/), one of Iran’s most senior security officials and a close associate of the late Supreme Leader, was killed on March 17\. Gholamreza Soleimani, the commander of Iran’s Basij force—a plain-clothes militia unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps—was killed the same day.
