### FAQ

#### Is a PMP certification worth it?

A Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification is widely considered a valuable certification for project managers seeking to advance their careers. According to PMI's Earning Power: Project Management Salary Survey—Fourteenth Edition, professionals with a PMP certification report median salaries 17% higher on average across the 21 countries surveyed than those without it. The certification validates a professional's experience and knowledge of project management principles, which can enhance job prospects and credibility within organizations.

#### What are the best certifications for project managers?

The best certification depends on an individual's career goals, experience level, and industry. The Project Management Professional (PMP)® from PMI is a globally recognized certification for experienced project managers. For those newer to the field, PMI's Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® is a common starting point. Other notable certifications include those focused on agile methodologies, such as the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®, and program management certifications like the Program Management Professional (PgMP)®. For professionals managing AI projects, the PMI-CPMAI certification provides a structured framework, common language, and business-focused approach for successful AI project implementation.

#### How does PMI support career growth for professionals?

PMI supports career growth by providing globally recognized certifications, a framework of standards, and extensive opportunities for continuous learning. Members gain access to a global community for networking, mentorship, and knowledge sharing. The organization also produces research and thought leadership on emerging trends, helping professionals stay current with skills in areas like AI, agile practices, and strategic business management. These resources are designed to help professionals at all levels enhance their skills and advance their careers.

#### What is the PMBOK® Guide?

The PMBOK® Guide, or A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, is PMI’s foundational guide to generally accepted project management knowledge and practice. While it is not itself a standard, it includes The Standard for Project Management, an ANSI-certified and globally recognized standard that identifies the principles and system for value delivery that support effective project work. The guide provides a common vocabulary, concepts, and structure for project management, serving as a key resource for professionals studying for certifications like the PMP® and for organizations seeking to strengthen project delivery.

#### How is AI changing project management?

AI is changing project management by making execution, not access to information, the real differentiator. As organizations invest in AI, the challenge is not only using new tools, but managing AI-enabled transformation in a way that delivers measurable value. Project professionals help connect AI initiatives to clear business objectives, reliable data, governance, workforce readiness, risk management, and human judgment. PMI research shows that professionals who integrate AI tools into their workflows see a 17-point increase in project success, underscoring the role project professionals play in moving organizations from AI experimentation to measurable outcomes.

#### What are the most important skills for a project manager?

Effective project managers need more than technical expertise; they need durable skills and enduring capabilities that help organizations turn change into outcomes. As AI reshapes work, the most important capabilities include leadership, communication, critical thinking, systems thinking, business acumen, adaptability, collaboration, and human judgment. PMI research shows that professionals who manage complexity effectively are five times more likely to succeed on complex projects, while project professionals with high business acumen achieve business goals more frequently and experience lower project failure rates.

#### How can I get involved with the PMI community?

Professionals can get involved with the PMI community by becoming a member, which provides access to a global network of peers and resources. Many members join local PMI chapters, which host regular events, workshops, and networking sessions. Online, PMI's projectmanagement.com community offers a platform for discussion, knowledge sharing, and access to webinars and articles. Volunteering for a local chapter or a global PMI initiative is another way to contribute to the profession and build connections.

#### What is the difference between PMP and CAPM?

The PMP (Project Management Professional)® and CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management)® are both certifications offered by PMI, but they target professionals at different career stages. The CAPM is an entry-level certification designed for individuals with little or no project experience, validating their understanding of fundamental project management knowledge and terminology. The PMP is for experienced project managers and requires a combination of formal education and years of documented project leadership experience, making it a more advanced and globally recognized certification.

#### How does PMI support social impact?
PMI supports social impact by helping individuals, nonprofits, NGOs, and communities use project management to turn purpose into measurable outcomes. Through the PMI Educational Foundation, PMI expands access to project management education for youth worldwide, including underserved and underrepresented populations. Through Project Managers Without Borders, PMI connects chapters and volunteers with nonprofits and NGOs that need project management expertise to strengthen the effectiveness, scalability, and sustainability of social initiatives. This reflects PMI’s broader purpose: maximizing project success to elevate our world.

Activision’s kicking off their first-ever Call of Duty XP fan fest this year and they’ve got a weekend full of multiplayer reveals, real-life paintball combat and even a Kanye West closing concert lined up for attendees. Among the highlights is a $1 million tournament where regular joes get to face off against celeb and pro athlete contestants, as well.

One of those _COD_ players from the world of sports will be Kevin Love, power forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves. I had a chance to speak with the 2011 Most Improved Player before the XP festivities began and he talked about how his _COD_ playstyle differs from his play on the basketball court, as well as the most important thing about playing in the tournament.

**You’re going to be at the Call of Duty XP fan fest this weekend. Would you say that you’re one of the NBA’s top** **_COD_** **players?**

Kevin Love: I mean, I try to be, at least. I know that some of the guys are at Level 50 Prestige, and you have to kind of creep around the levels and you can’t go out there out in the open.

You’ll try to go hard in the paint and put yourself out there all the time, like I do. But if you go right out there into the open, they’re going to kill you. I try to fake it ‘till I make it more than anything. But I definitely try. So it will definitely be interesting on Saturday to go against Chris Bosh and the service members and the other participants. So it will be fun.

**So it sounds like you’re saying your personal style as an athlete is totally different from how you play** **_Call of Duty_** **?**

Yeah. You have to be careful and not try to get killed while also trying to go out there and kill guys yourself. Whereas if you’re too careful on the court, you’re not going to make anything happen for your team.

It’s a very, very tough game, as far as multiplayer, but it’s a lot of fun. You have to go about it a certain way, just like in anything, in order to have success. I just can’t be going out there and put myself in the open or else I’ll be done.

**What do you like most about the game? Is it the speed and the visceral sense of the action? Or is it like being a little bit more strategic? Why are you a** **_Call of Duty_** **fan?**

Well, definitely the strategy. Like you said, how you go about the game, it’s all strategy. I definitely love to play against different people online all across the world. You can really understand while you’re playing it why it’s the biggest selling game of all time. I’m very excited to try some of the new levels and the new style of play in Modern Warfare 3.

_article continues on next page…_

nextpage
**What’s your favorite weapon in the game?**

Personally, I like the Galil. I hate the guys who just stand there and are the snipers all the time. I personally like the Galil. I don’t know if that’s the best gun in the game but it’s something I’ve always ran with and I took a liking to when I first started.

![](https://static.time.com/v3/assets/bltea6093859af6183b/bltb216ac307f576294/6998bd8df1b0827ae36f0560/rapperxzi_john_123491102_max.jpg?branch=production&width=1080&quality=75&auto=webp&crop=16:9)

**It seems that particular of weapon is better for a mid-range, run-and-gun style.**

Yes, and that’s definitely the type I am without being too crazy and racking up deaths all the time.

**Do you find it’s easier to memorize a level? Because that’s the thing that always gets me, I always forget where stuff is.**

Right. I always forget where stuff is. I definitely like to memorize the level, memorize the map, but a lot of times, that’s very, very tough for me. I’ll find myself not even looking at the map at certain points. Just going about my business and that will get me in some trouble.

**So you’re saying it’s not any easier despite the fact that you have all this experience, like with memorizing plays. If your coach outlines a play for you, is it a different set of tools all together?**

Yeah, definitely it is. It’s easy when you can just put yourself in a particular spot on the hardwood, but when putting yourself out there in different levels where it’s just mayhem at all times, it’s very tough.

Just memorizing the different levels is challenging, and anticipating where people are going to be. A lot of the time guys have figured out different pockets in different levels to where they like to scope and hide out as snipers go. It’s tough. You have to go about your business in a different way than in sports. I’ve gained a lot of respect for the game because it’s very, very humbling playing it.

**But, if they were to take you on on the court that would be something else entirely?**

I can definitely say yes to that. \[laughs\]

**Why did you agree to participate in the tournament this weekend at Call of Duty XP?**

Headlining the smash comedy 'Neighbors,' the 32-year-old actor-writer-producer has become a major Hollywood star playing the genial dopester. Sporting a crew cut and a scowl, Seth Rogen assumes the voice of a farmer who dreams of planting "the finest reefer the Midwest has ever grown." He adds: "That's why when some idiot teacher tells me I'm not livin' up to my potential, I just smile, 'cause I know I am."rnrnHe was 16 or 17 when he auditioned for the cast of the 1999 TV comedy <em>Freaks and Geeks</em>, but <a title="Seth Rogen audition tape" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5iaHTkpTv0">this one-minute tape</a> already captures two of the three aspects of the Seth Rogen audiences have come to embrace: the dope-smoker who's an underachiever and proud of it. The third part of his appeal is the booming basso laugh, which makes him sound like the weirdest, most genial Jewish Santa Claus. (Rogen launched his career, in his hometown of Vancouver, B.C., as a teen standup comic making jokes about his bar mitzvah.)rnrn<strong>(FIND: <em>Freaks and Geeks</em> on James Poniewozik's list of the <a title="all-TIME 100 TV shows" href="http://entertainment.time.com/2007/09/06/the-100-best-tv-shows-of-all-time/slide/freaks-and-geeks-2/">all-TIME 100 TV Shows</a>)</strong>rnrnThis year, Rogen's Christmas or Hanukkah came in May. <em>Neighbors</em>, which he starred in and produced, topped the weekend box office with $51.1 million — the strongest opening for a live-action comedy since <em>Ted</em> two summers ago, and an amazing start for a movie with a piddling $18-million budget. Evicting <em>The Amazing Spider Man 2</em> from its one-week throne, <em>Neighbors</em> earned about as much money as <em>The Great Gatsby</em> did exactly a year ago. Does this make Rogen the slob DiCaprio, the louche Leo? Maybe not, but at 32 he's the Stoner King of Comedy.rnrn<strong>(READ: Corliss's <a title="Neighbors rview" href="http://time.com/88967/neighbors-movie-review-zac-efron/">review of <em>Neighbors</em></a>)</strong>rnrnIn the <em>Freaks and Geeks</em> class that also included James Franco and Jason Segel, Rogen's comedy professor was Judd Apatow, the show's executive producer. Apatow would go on to cast Rogen in a prominent supporting role in <em>The 40 Year Old Virgin</em>, give him a leading role as the one-night stand confronted with fatherhood in <em>Knocked Up</em> and produce <em>Superbad</em>, the high-school comedy that Rogen and his writing partner (and fellow bar mitzvah student) Evan Goldberg had begun scripting when they were 13\. Each movie had earned more than $100 million at the domestic box office by the end of 2007, when Rogen was all of 25.rnrnThe hits kept on coming for the actor-writer-producer, with the weed-driven, low-budget comedies <em>Pineapple Express</em> (2008) and <em>This Is the End</em>, which co-starred Franco and another Apatow grad, Jonah Hill, and took in another easy $100 million last summer. Add the distinctive voice work Rogen has contributed to such animated features as <em>Shrek the Third</em>, <em>Horton Hears a Who!</em>, <em>Monsters vs. Aliens</em> and <em>Kung Fu Panda</em>, and the total North American gross for his movies is more than $1.7 billion — a nice haul for the Tyke Tycoon of Toke.rnrn<strong>(READ: Mary Pols on <a title="This Is the End review" href="http://entertainment.time.com/2013/06/11/this-is-the-end-apocalypse-like-wow/">Seth Rogen's <em>This Is the End</em></a>)</strong>rnrnRogen's Ken Miller in <em>Freaks and Geeks</em> was surly and acerbic — Segel asks him, "Can you ever not be sarcastic?" and Rogen replies, sarcastically, "<em>I'm</em> sarcastic?" — but with a furtive sensitivity. In one episode Ken stands outside the band room, watching with mournful devotion as his beloved "Tuba Girl" practices. That may have been the last time a Rogen character did any pining. He gives every evidence of being at ease with his considerable girth (or he wouldn't be photographed nude in the <em>Knocked Up</em> and <em>Neighbors</em> sex scenes) and the prematurely middle-age persona he has carried his entire public life.rnrnEven in his early twenties, Rogen possessed the antiauthoritarian authority of an indulgent uncle who tells the kids to do whatever stupidly enjoyable thing they want. He's a master of making a boast on matters other men might be ashamed of, as when he strode on stage at the 2012 Golden Globes in the company of sexy Kate Beckinsale and announced, "Hello, I’m Seth Rogen, and I am currently trying to conceal a massive erection.” But he also uses his celebrity in mature ways. He's a spokesman for an Alzheimer's awareness foundation — and, of course, a member of NORML, which agitates for the legalization of marijuana.rnrnThe best joke in <em>Neighbors</em> is that Rogen plays the voice of middle-age propriety — a husband and the father of an infant girl — to the rowdy young frat boys, led by the preening Teddy (Zac Efron), who have moved in next door. This battle of the generations has a couple of nuances: Rogen is just five-and-a-half years older than Efron, the erstwhile <em>High School Musical</em> heartthrob; and Rogen's Mac, for all his annoyance that the loud music keeps him, his wife Kelly (Rose Byrne) and baby Sheila up at four in the morning, wants in on the frat guys' hard partying. In his early thirties, he's afraid that "All the things I used to do, I can't do any more." What is presented as a war between Teddy and Mac is really an internal struggle: Mac the protective father vs. Mac the fun-loving dopester. It's a midlife crisis for a perennial teenager.rnrn<strong>(READ: Lily Rothman's <a title="11 Questions for the Neighbors Baby" href="http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCcQqQIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Ftime.com%2F91779%2Fneighbors-baby-fake-interview%2F&ei=rr1wU6rpI-vQsQSvyIGIDA&usg=AFQjCNH\_SkAy\_hsWHcq24BYQvcLm7jtm2A&bvm=bv.66111022,bs.1,d.cWc">11 Questions for the Baby from <em>Neighbors</em></a>)</strong>rnrnHow will Rogen build on <em>Neighbors'</em> break-out-hit status? It won't take long to find out. Among his films near completion are the animated feature, <em>Sausage Party</em> — we're guessing that, like most of Rogen's movies, this will be rated R — and <em>The Interview</em>, in which he and Franco are a talk-show host and his producer who blunder into a U.S. government assignment to assassinate North Korea's Kim Jong-un.rnrnHis most beguiling project is an adaptation of William Faulkner's <em>The Sound and the Fury</em>, directed by Franco and featuring a diverse cast: Franco, his brother Dave (Efron's second-in-command in the <em>Neighbors</em> frat house), <em>Pineapple Express</em> costar Danny McBride and Jon Hamm of <em>Mad Men</em>. We don't know what role Rogen plays in this convoluted tale of Southern aristocracy gone to seed, but it should serve as a refutation to the reporter in <em>This Is the End</em> who told Rogen, "You play the same guy in every movie. When are you going to do something else?” <em>The Sound and the Fury</em> could give a fascinating twist to the character that has made Seth Rogen one of America's top stars: the friendly dopester almost anyone would want as a neighbor.rnrn

I agreed to do it because I thought it would be a great way to interact not only with the fans but the service members. We’ll actually be able to play some of the members of the Armed Forces abroad. It’s a good way of getting the troops together and showing support for the men and women that are serving our country. Plus, I get to go against Chris Bosh. \[laughs\].

So, all the athletes like me, they’ll give you a lot of trash talk and it’s going to be a lot of fun. Afterwards Kanye West is going to close off the show. It’s for a great cause. All ticket sales go the Call of Duty Endowment. It’s a non-profit that assists veterans transitioning into civilian life. In that regard it’s pretty cool to try to provide a career for them afterwards and help them go along. This weekend is kind of getting the best of both worlds: You get a lot of entertainment and it’s for a good cause. It’s the first time people get to be hands-on with _Call of Duty Elite_ and _Modern Warfare 3_.

**On the** **_Elite_** **front, it’s kind of like a stat aggregator. So you can kind of learn how you play it. I wrote it up a couple months ago and I compared it to watching film. When you’re watching film of yourself or other teams, like what kind of things do you pull out to try and use in a game? Let’s say you’re going to face up against the Warriors or a team like that.**

Well I think you always look at their strengths and weaknesses and definitely their tendencies. If you know the percentages on a guy, like where he likes to turnover, his right shoulder, his left shoulder. He likes to drive right, drive left.

Where he scores most of his buckets from. Where he gets stops in the defensive end. So, I think it definitely relates to the _Call of Duty_ game, especially in terms of watching film and kind of finding out a guy’s tendencies: what weapon he likes to use, where he likes to score from, and how he goes about his business. There’s definitely a connection between both concepts.

So that’s something you think you’re going to find yourself doing? Reading up on your opponents or yourself to see how you can improve your game?

Definitely. Like I said, it’s very humbling when I get online and really start playing. Because some of the guys in there are just so good. You definitely have to sit back and understand what you have to get better at, and what you have to work on. Definitely figure out the other guy’s tendencies and where they’re going to be, and really figure out the levels as well, I think.

A new video released by the extremist group Boko Haram purportedly shows for the first time some of the Nigerian schoolgirls who were kidnapped last month, with leader Abubakar Shekau claiming he'll release the girls in exchange for prisoners, amid global condemnation of Nigeria's handling of the abductions A <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/world/video/2014/may/12/nigeria-kidnapped-girls-boko-haram-video" target="\_blank">new video</a> released by the extremist group Boko Haram <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/boko-haram-video-claims-show-missing-nigerian-schoolgirls-092349687.html" target="\_blank">claims to show for the first time</a> more than 100 Nigerian schoolgirls abducted last month, amid growing <a href="http://time.com/84414/how-we-failed-the-lost-girls-kidnapped-by-boko-haram/" target="\_blank">outrage</a> at the kidnapping and <a href="http://time.com/95558/nigeria-kidnappings-government/" target="\_blank">the government's response</a>.rnrnThe authenticity of the video, first obtained by AFP, could not immediately be confirmed. It depicts the girls wearing hijab and praying. In the video, a leader of the group boasts that the girls, who came from both Christian and Muslim families, have converted to Islam. "We have indeed liberated them," the militant leader Abubakar Shekau says in the video. "These girls have become Muslims, they are Muslims."rnrnShekau says he will only release the schoolgirls if the Nigerian government frees Boko Haram prisoners. "It is now four years or five years that you have arrested our brethren, they are still in your prison and you are doing many things to them, and now you are talking about these girls?" he said. "We will never release them until you release our brethren."rnrnIn <a href="http://time.com/87658/boko-haram-nigeria-kidnapped-girls/" target="\_blank">an earlier video</a>, Shekau had threatened to force the girls into marriage, saying he would "sell them in the market, by Allah."rnrnBoko Haram kidnapped 276 schoolgirls from their school in Chibok almost a month ago, and <a href="http://time.com/90693/bringbackourgirls-nigeria-boko-haram/" target="\_blank">an international social media campaign</a> is demanding their release. Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has been widely criticized for his failure to prevent the attack and for his response. The United States announced last week that it was <a href="http://time.com/89665/boko-haram-nigeria-girls/" target="\_blank">sending a team</a> to aid in search and rescue of the girls.

**All right, let’s go back to your main job. What are your thoughts on this season coming up?**

It’s going to be interesting. Obviously, with the labor negotiations, the CBA, and the owners, there really hasn’t been much leeway and we are really at a position where it’s hurry-up-and-wait. Mid-September, maybe early October we’ll start making leeway. There will be more negotiations, but a lot of it is unknown at this point. We as the players kind of just have to sit back and find other ways to make money.

**Yeah, because at this point you guys would have been in camp still or would preseason have started?**

In two weeks, we’d be reporting to camp at least. So everybody is just kind of working out right now and doing their best to stay in shape so when the time comes we’ll be ready to go.

**What do you to stay in shape? Just pick-up games or…?**

Yeah, I’m lifting four times a week. Doing basketball five to six days a week. And I’m doing yoga two to three times a week.

So I got a pretty heavy schedule with mixing in different endorsements, different endeavors, different things that have come my way. I’m very blessed to be that busy and have the different opportunities like this one on Saturday. And I’m just going to try to keep that going as much as possible.
