It's a binder-like case with a removable Bluetooth keyboard with full-travel keys and as comfy a layout as you're going to get given the size constraints. Your iPad 2 or current-model iPad slides into a lip that holds the tablet snugly, but also lets you slide it out in a jiffy so you can use it without the case. I've said that buying one of these changed my life; I wasn't exaggerating. But I'm not crazy about the clasp, which I've found needs to be wriggled into place to close the case properly. It is, indeed, ultra-thin: I can't imagine anything with a true full-travel keyboard adding less bulk to the iPad. Like an Apple Smart Cover, it snaps onto an iPad 2 or current-generation iPad with a magnetic hinge. And the battery life of the Bluetooth keyboard is amazing: I used mine for six weeks before charging it for the first time. It's not perfect: I expected to be able to fold it all the way back, like a Smart Cover, but I can't. And I'm not crazy about the aluminum back, designed to mimic the iPad's backside: Mine shows wear, and the "Logitech" logo is wearing off. Sturdy plastic might have been less sexy but more practical. We'll have to wait until it ships to know if the steep price \($170, or $210 for a version with speakers\) is worth it. The first units are supposed to arrive in October. The docks also house their own batteries for lending additional power to the tablets. Asus promises between 14 and 18 hours of juice, depending on the model.
