The photo depicts a crowd on the day of the speech, with Lincoln apparently standing among the people. Christopher Oakley, a former Disney animator and Civil War buff who teaches new media the the University North Carolina-Asheville, made the discovery, studying a high-resolution copy of a photograph of the day and identifying a person he believes to be Lincoln in the crowd. Only three other photos from the Nov. 19, 1863 address have ever been found, and the legitimacy of two of those pictures have been challenged by experts.
