To hear star Michael Fassbender and director Ridley Scott talk about _Prometheus_ over the past several months, you’d think it was the worst thing imaginable for the film to be a prequel to Scott’s 1979 work _Alien_. more So, now that we can actually see some footage from the film, starring Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace and Idris Elba, it’s pretty clear that the movie is precisely what they said it wasn’t. From the vertical lines that transform into the movie’s title (reminiscent of the [simple and effective trailer](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HjwbnhVnDM) for the original film) to a brief appearance of the space jockey to the very prominent shots of the derelict spacecraft in which the crew of the Nostromo will eventually find a chamber full of face huggers, we’re deep in _Alien_ mythology here. Special shout out to the soundtrack, which mixes _Inception_\-esque horns (how many trailers use these nowadays) with what is either a very loud scream or a very loud alarm.
