Caesar shot to fame on 1950s live comedy program _Your Show of Shows_, on which he and his co-stars jammed comedy sketches, dance numbers and popular music. According to [Variety](http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/sid-caesar-master-of-tv-comedy-dies-at-91-1201100019/ "undefined"), the show won two Emmys and was nominated for the award every year between 1951 and 1958\. Caesar also featured in movies such as _Grease_, _It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World_ and Mel Brooks’ _Silent Movie._ He battled alcohol and barbiturate addiction throughout his life, but continued to perform well into the 2000s. In 2011, the Television Critics Association gave Caesar a lifetime achievement award.
