Whether you’re spending Valentine’s day alone, with some friends or with your loved one, you may not be feeling the mushy romantic movies — and in dire need of an alternative. Your first go-to, of course, should be season 2 of House of Cards, which dropped on Netflix in the wee hours this morning. But if you missed the first season or need a break from dark, devious politicians, here are some of the least romantic movies available to stream.
1. Fargo (Netflix or Amazon Prime)
One of the Coen brothers’ best movies involves almost no romance, but lots of murder and Minnesotan accents. Plus, you can prep for the new Fargo TV series premiering later this year! It’s a win-win.
2. Kill Bill: Volume 1 & Kill Bill: Volume 2 (Amazon or iTunes)
Just went through a breakup? Try Quentin Tarantino’s vengeance epic.
3. Home Alone 2 (Amazon and iTunes)
For something less bloody that the aforementioned suggestions, revisit Home Alone 2 for a reminder of what life was like back when you were a kid during Christmas — being chased by criminals. (It happens to the best of us.)
4. American Psycho (Netflix or Amazon Prime)
There’s nothing cute about a murderous psychopath in a slick suit.
5. Pineapple Express (Amazon or iTunes)
Forget romance. How about a bro-mance? Seth Rogen and James Franco pair up for this stoner comedy.
6. Thelma and Louise (Netflix or Amazon Prime)
If there were ever two women who proved you’re better off without a man, it was Thelma and Louise. You can even enjoy young Brad Pitt’s abs for a scene or two.
7. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (Amazon or iTunes)
Before Hermoine (mistakenly) hooked up with Ron and Harry found Ginny, these wizards were just kids running around a big castle casting spells.
8. Alien (Amazon or iTunes)
Actual fact: There is no bigger turnoff than an alien bursting out of someone’s stomach.
9. Skyfall (Netflix or Amazon Prime)
This Bond movie substituted the traditional Bond girl drama for a more personal story about James Bond’s mother-son relationship with his boss, M. Plus, Javier Bardem takes a fun turn as a psychopathic bad guy.
10. In the Loop (Netflix or Amazon Prime)
It’s hard to find a comedy without any trace of romance, but the hilarious In the Loop accomplishes that feat. Fans of Veep, especially, should check out the show’s counterpart.
