The Dominion Bureau of Statistics recorded a few matters of fact:
¶There were 213,000 unemployed persons in Canada as of Feb. 23 (date of the most recent survey)—an increase of 41,000 in three months.
¶ Of the jobless, 179,000 were men, 34,000 were women. Biggest number of unemployed (82,000) were between the ages of 25 and 44; next biggest (42,000), between 20 and 24.
¶Hardest-hit province was Quebec, with 75,000 jobless. Next was Ontario with 56,000.
