The Senate:

¶ Adopted a resolution for joint Congressional investigation of wealthy taxpayers as amended by the House to prevent Treasury officials from carrying on a public scandal-hunt in the absence ofCongressmen (TIME, June 14).

The House:

¶ Adopted resolution extending for two years expiring nuisance taxes (including 3¢ postage) which yield about $600,000,000 a year revenue. Sent it to the Senate.

¶ Passed a bill i) for the deportation of criminal aliens (for crimes such as gun-toting) that are not deportable offenses under present law, 2) to permit the Secretary of Labor for four years to waive the deportation of not more than 8,000 aliens of good character who have been ten years in the U. S. illegally. Sent it to the Senate.
