As a reward he was made secretary of the Republican National Committee. Last week he complained of the press of other affairs, resigned. As always in the case of such leave-takings, he, the White House and G. 0. P. Chairman Claudius Hart Huston had to deny rumors of a breach in the party, had to down stories that the President had jettisoned his political friend.
