A revision of the best-selling BIBLE in the U.S. will be released in April, incorporating some modern words and eliminating a linguistic male bias in some places. UPDATES in Today’s New International Version: In MATTHEW 1:18, the Virgin Mary, before described as “with child,” changes to “pregnant”; in MATTHEW 5:9, the peacemakers, once the “sons of God,” become the “children of God”; in ROMANS 3:28, “a man is justified by faith” is now “a person is justified by faith.” Throughout, references to “the Jews” are made more specific, such as “the Jewish leaders.” And the vocative “O” is gone.
