Jeffrey Zaslow, 53, journalist and best-selling author; Zaslow, who co-wrote The Last Lecture with Randy Pausch, died in a car accident on Feb. 10.

Dory Previn, 86, a co-writer of “Theme from Valley of the Dolls”; her bitter divorce from composer Andr Previn led her to record soul-baring 1970s albums.

For a second full term, the second President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, with 97% of the vote, besting the 89% he got in 2007.

Patricia Stephens Due, 72, civil rights leader who was jailed in Florida for challenging Jim Crow laws, then embarked on a post “jail-in” national speaking tour.
