To Dorothy Lamour (nee Slater), 34, cinema sarongstress and leading lady to Hope and Crosby (Road to Utopia, Road to Morocco, etc.), and second husband William Ross Howard III, 42, wartime A.A.F. major now an advertising executive: their second child, second son; in Los Angeles. Name: Richard Thompson. Weight: 7 Ibs. 2½ oz.

Married. Sarah Churchill, 34, redhaired, green-eyed second daughter of Winston Churchill, onetime chorus girl, wartime WAAF officer, and cinemactress (All Over the Town); and Anthony Beauchamp (rhymes with reach ‘um), 32, British society photographer; she for the second time; in Sea Island, Ga.

Married. Michael Foot, 36, pamphleteering Laborite M.P., onetime editor of Lord Beaverbrook’s London Evening Standard, now editor (with Health Minister Aneurin Bevan’s wife, M. P. Jenny Lee) of the Weekly Tribune (circ. 18,-ooo); and Jill Craigie, 35, author-director-producer of documentary films (The Way We Live); in London.

Married. Dr. Herman Benjamin Baruch, 77, onetime U.S. ambassador to Portugal (1945-47) and The Netherlands (he resigned last month), goateed younger brother of Elder Statesman Bernard Baruch; and Anne Maria, Baroness Mackay, fortyish, Dutch socialite; he for the second time; in Wyandanch, N.Y.

Divorced. Alexander Crichlow (“Lex”) Barker Jr., 30, Manhattan socialite who combined a deadpan acting style and bulging biceps to become the tenth cinema Tarzan; by Constance Thurlow Barker, 32; after seven years of marriage, two children; in Santa Monica, Calif.

Died. Fedor Ivanovich Tolbukhin, 55, marshal of the Soviet Union, one of the defenders of Stalingrad; after long illness; in Moscow. Tolbukhin’s army broke through the German lines in November 1942, completed encirclement of Paulus’ German Sixth Army, later helped drive the enemy out of the southern Ukraine and the Balkans.

Died. Richard (Dick) Rudolph, 62, star righthanded pitcher of the 1914 Boston Braves; of a heart ailment; in The Bronx. Spearheaded by Spitballer Rudolph’s 27 victories (twelve of them consecutive), the Braves zoomed from last place on July 4th to win the National League pennant, the World Series (in four games), and the historic title “Miracle Team.”

Died. Sir Maurice Alan Cassidy, 69, heart specialist and physician to three British kings (George V, Edward VIII, George VI); of complications following an auto accident last April; in London.
