The Great Recession hit many battleground states harder than the rest of the U.S. during the first two years of the Obama presidency, when nonfarm employment fell 2.5% nationwide. In many swing states, Obama’s approval rating, which stands at 47% across the country, has dropped further than the national average of 10.8 points.
