The Music Man Will Be NBC’s Next Live Musical

1 minute read

The hills are alive with the sound of another musical. NBC will bring a live version of The Music Man to television, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt announced during the network’s upfront presentation on Monday.

News of the adaptation of the 1957 musical follows previously announced plans for a live rendition of Peter Pan, TVLine reports.

Last December, NBC began experimenting with live musical events when it aired a performance of The Sound of Music starring Carrie Underwood. The program received many negative reviews, but it was a ratings smash — delivering some of the network’s best numbers in years.

Though no date has been set for The Music Man, it will likely happen after the Dec. 4 premiere of Peter Pan Live!, which is currently being cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
