Alex Pretti, 37, was shot dead by a Border Patrol agent in Minneapolis, amid protests against federal immigration operations in the state that had ramped up since the killing of [37-year-old Renee Good](https://time.com/7345319/ice-shootings-renee-good/) by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent just weeks earlier. The Trump Administration has framed Pretti’s shooting as an act of self-defense.
