### FAQ

#### Is a PMP certification worth it?

A Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification is widely considered a valuable certification for project managers seeking to advance their careers. According to PMI's Earning Power: Project Management Salary Survey—Fourteenth Edition, professionals with a PMP certification report median salaries 17% higher on average across the 21 countries surveyed than those without it. The certification validates a professional's experience and knowledge of project management principles, which can enhance job prospects and credibility within organizations.

#### What are the best certifications for project managers?

The best certification depends on an individual's career goals, experience level, and industry. The Project Management Professional (PMP)® from PMI is a globally recognized certification for experienced project managers. For those newer to the field, PMI's Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® is a common starting point. Other notable certifications include those focused on agile methodologies, such as the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®, and program management certifications like the Program Management Professional (PgMP)®. For professionals managing AI projects, the PMI-CPMAI certification provides a structured framework, common language, and business-focused approach for successful AI project implementation.

#### How does PMI support career growth for professionals?

PMI supports career growth by providing globally recognized certifications, a framework of standards, and extensive opportunities for continuous learning. Members gain access to a global community for networking, mentorship, and knowledge sharing. The organization also produces research and thought leadership on emerging trends, helping professionals stay current with skills in areas like AI, agile practices, and strategic business management. These resources are designed to help professionals at all levels enhance their skills and advance their careers.

#### What is the PMBOK® Guide?

The PMBOK® Guide, or A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, is PMI’s foundational guide to generally accepted project management knowledge and practice. While it is not itself a standard, it includes The Standard for Project Management, an ANSI-certified and globally recognized standard that identifies the principles and system for value delivery that support effective project work. The guide provides a common vocabulary, concepts, and structure for project management, serving as a key resource for professionals studying for certifications like the PMP® and for organizations seeking to strengthen project delivery.

#### How is AI changing project management?

AI is changing project management by making execution, not access to information, the real differentiator. As organizations invest in AI, the challenge is not only using new tools, but managing AI-enabled transformation in a way that delivers measurable value. Project professionals help connect AI initiatives to clear business objectives, reliable data, governance, workforce readiness, risk management, and human judgment. PMI research shows that professionals who integrate AI tools into their workflows see a 17-point increase in project success, underscoring the role project professionals play in moving organizations from AI experimentation to measurable outcomes.

#### What are the most important skills for a project manager?

Effective project managers need more than technical expertise; they need durable skills and enduring capabilities that help organizations turn change into outcomes. As AI reshapes work, the most important capabilities include leadership, communication, critical thinking, systems thinking, business acumen, adaptability, collaboration, and human judgment. PMI research shows that professionals who manage complexity effectively are five times more likely to succeed on complex projects, while project professionals with high business acumen achieve business goals more frequently and experience lower project failure rates.

#### How can I get involved with the PMI community?

Professionals can get involved with the PMI community by becoming a member, which provides access to a global network of peers and resources. Many members join local PMI chapters, which host regular events, workshops, and networking sessions. Online, PMI's projectmanagement.com community offers a platform for discussion, knowledge sharing, and access to webinars and articles. Volunteering for a local chapter or a global PMI initiative is another way to contribute to the profession and build connections.

#### What is the difference between PMP and CAPM?

The PMP (Project Management Professional)® and CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management)® are both certifications offered by PMI, but they target professionals at different career stages. The CAPM is an entry-level certification designed for individuals with little or no project experience, validating their understanding of fundamental project management knowledge and terminology. The PMP is for experienced project managers and requires a combination of formal education and years of documented project leadership experience, making it a more advanced and globally recognized certification.

#### How does PMI support social impact?
PMI supports social impact by helping individuals, nonprofits, NGOs, and communities use project management to turn purpose into measurable outcomes. Through the PMI Educational Foundation, PMI expands access to project management education for youth worldwide, including underserved and underrepresented populations. Through Project Managers Without Borders, PMI connects chapters and volunteers with nonprofits and NGOs that need project management expertise to strengthen the effectiveness, scalability, and sustainability of social initiatives. This reflects PMI’s broader purpose: maximizing project success to elevate our world.

Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested hours after his parents, prolific director-actor Rob Reiner and producer and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in an apparent homicide.

The 32-year-old was taken into custody at 9:15 p.m. on Sunday and booked into jail at 5:04 a.m., according to online jail records.

“We have our Robbery Homicide division handling the investigation,” Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell told press on Monday. “They worked throughout the night on this case and were able to take into custody Nick Reiner, a suspect in this case. He was subsequently booked for murder and is being held on $4 million bail.”

McDonnell said that the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) utilized warrants to further their investigation, but that he could not share more regarding the warrant, nor regarding the case in general, as to allow for prosecution down the line.

A spokesperson for the family confirmed the couple’s deaths on Sunday.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time,” the spokesperson said in a statement. Rob Reiner was 78 and Singer Reiner was 68.

The Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments said they responded to a medical emergency at the Reiners’ home around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday and found a deceased man and woman aged around 78 and 68, but did not initially confirm their identities. LAPD Captain Mike Bland described the deaths as “an apparent homicide.”

TMZ [reported](https://www.tmz.com/2025/12/14/rob-reiner-wife-michele-found-dead-los-angeles-home/) that the bodies had lacerations consistent with a knife.

LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said late on Sunday that the police are not seeking suspects at this time, adding that the investigation is still in its preliminary stage. He said the police are interviewing family members but are not treating them as suspects. Hamilton also said investigators are seeking a search warrant in order to proceed with a “full crime scene investigation on the interior and exterior of the residence and the surrounding neighborhood.”

## Legendary filmmaker and passionate advocates

Reiner, the son of comedian and director Carl Reiner, is known for directing some of the most classic films of the ’80s and ’90s, including his directorial debut _This Is Spinal Tap_ (1984), _Stand By Me_ (1986), _The Princess Bride_ (1987), _Misery_ (1990), _The American President_ (1995), and _When Harry Met Sally…_ (1989).

Reiner co-founded production company Castle Rock Entertainment in 1987, which produced several of his films, as well as other highly acclaimed films like _The Shawshank Redemption_ (1994) and the ’90s sitcom _Seinfeld_. He also acted in several memorable roles earlier in his career, including as Michael “Meathead” Stivic in the ’70s sitcom _All in the Family_, and in supporting roles in films like _Sleepless in Seattle_ (1993) and _The Wolf of Wall Street_ (2013).

It was during the filming of _When Harry Met Sally…_ that Reiner met Singer. Their meeting inspired him to change the ending of the film. An early version of the script ended with the two protagonists, Sally Albright and Harry Burns, walking away from each other.

“At that time, I couldn’t figure out how I was going to get with anybody, so I just had them walking in opposite directions at the end,” Reiner told [the AV Club](https://www.avclub.com/rob-reiner-on-his-favorite-films-and-why-he-changed-th-1798251871) in 2016\. “And then I met the woman who became my wife during the making of the movie, and I changed the ending.”

Reiner and Singer married in 1989 and have three children together.

The couple collaborated on several projects together, including the film _Misery_ and the documentary _Albert Brooks: Defending My Life_ (2023). Singer Reiner photographed President Donald Trump for the cover of his book _The Art of the Deal_ (1987).

Reiner was formerly married to director and actor Penny Marshall from 1971 to 1981\. He adopted Marshall’s daughter, Tracy Reiner, from her previous marriage.

Reiner and his son Nick explored their troubled relationship in a 2015 semi-autobiographical film [_Being Charlie_](https://time.com/4320209/being-charlie-rob-reiner-nick-reiner-addiction/), which chronicled Nick’s struggles with addiction, cycles of rehab, and bouts of homelessness in between. Rob Reiner directed the movie, and Nick Reiner co-wrote it.

The Reiners were also prominent activists in Hollywood. They campaigned for marriage equality, and helped found the American Foundation for Equal Rights, which fought against Proposition 8, a California measure that banned same-sex marriage in the state. They were also involved with several other California ballot initiatives and fundraised for the Democratic Party. Reiner was a [vocal critic of Trump](https://variety.com/2025/film/news/rob-reiner-autocracy-trump-control-media-election-1236540712/).

“I can honestly say the reason I’ve done as many things in the political sphere is largely because of her,” Reiner [told](https://archive.montclairfilm.org/2016/05/05/rob-reiner-conversation/?utm%5Fsource=chatgpt.com) late night host Stephen Colbert at the Montclair Film Festival in 2016\. “She is my Bunsen burner that lights the flame in my ass.”

President Trump reacted to the couple’s [death on Truth Social,](https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115724141568860081) suggesting without evidence that Reiner’s death was caused by “Trump derangement syndrome.” Attacking the late director, who he called “a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star,” Trump said that Reiner “was known to have driven people crazy” with his “obsession” with the President.
