Among the more than 150 images, taken by U.S. Virgin Island authorities, are photographs of a room with a dentist's chair surrounded by masks, a bedroom, and several other living spaces. One photograph shows a library with four armchairs facing each other and a blackboard in the background. Robert Garcia, Democratic ranking member on the committee, said in a press release. “We are releasing these photos and videos to ensure public transparency in our investigation and to help piece together the full picture of Epstein’s horrific crimes. We won’t stop fighting until we deliver justice for the survivors.” "It’s time for President Trump to release all the files, now," he added. The Committee [described](https://x.com/OversightDems/status/1996254530447569384) the initial group of images it released on Wednesday as "never-before-seen," but at least some of them were [released in May](https://x.com/JamesOKeefeIII/status/1923060866380873847) by right-wing political activist James O'Keefe, the founder of Project Veritas. Hours after the first release in the morning, the panel's Democrats [shared](https://x.com/oversightdems/status/1996336053003891001?s=46) more than 150 additional images and videos Wednesday afternoon, including what appeared to be a framed photo of Epstein and his long-time associate Ghislaine Maxwell meeting Pope John Paul II, as well as dozens more shots of both interior and outdoor spaces on the island. A number of Epstein survivors say they were trafficked to Little St. James, where he lived for the better part of two decades, and suffered abuse on the island. Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most prominent victims, wrote in her posthumous memoir of being trafficked to one of the islands when she was 18, where she was subjected to a particularly violent rape at the hands of an unnamed former Prime Minister. The convicted sex offender also used the island to entertain wealthy and powerful friends, although there is no suggestion that visitors there participated in any wrongdoing. A [video](https://x.com/OversightDems/status/1996254533328986255/video/2) walkthrough shows an expansive view of the ocean and palm trees, before the camera pans to a swimming pool and a large statue of an archer. Another photo released by the committee shows a landline telephone with names written next to speed-dial buttons—among them Darren, Rich, Mike, Patrick and Larry. Some names were redacted. The Oversight Committee said the photographs were obtained after it sent a request to the U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General for "documents, communications, and information pertaining to investigations or potential criminal investigations of Jeffrey Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell." The move appears to be the latest effort by Democrats on the Oversight Committee to pressure the Justice Department to release the Epstein files, coming two weeks after President Donald Trump [signed a law requiring it](https://time.com/7335230/trump-signs-epstein-files-bill/). Trump initially dismissed the legislation as a [Democratic “hoax,”](https://time.com/7302661/trump-jeffrey-epstein-hoax/) and lobbied furiously to block his own party from supporting it. When it became clear that enough House members would support Democrats in voting for a Bill to force the release of the files, Trump had a last-minute change of heart. The Justice Department has until Dec. 19 to release the files—30 days from the enactment of the law, but it has shared little about how it intends to comply with the law, and the legislation contains exceptions that give Attorney General Pam Bondi considerable latitude to withhold material. A group of bipartisan lawmakers requested an update from Bondi on Wednesday, hoping to avoid any delays to the release of the files. “In light of the short 30 day deadline to release the Epstein Files, we are particularly focused on understanding the contents of any new evidence, information or procedural hurdles that could interfere with the Department’s ability to meet this statutory deadline,” the lawmakers wrote in [a letter to Bondi](https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/26330855-doj-epstein-files-briefing-request-letter/) dated Wednesday, NBC News [reported](https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/epstein-files-lawmakers-ask-ag-pam-bondi-status-update-rcna246980).
