### FAQ

#### Is a PMP certification worth it?

A Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification is widely considered a valuable certification for project managers seeking to advance their careers. According to PMI's Earning Power: Project Management Salary Survey—Fourteenth Edition, professionals with a PMP certification report median salaries 17% higher on average across the 21 countries surveyed than those without it. The certification validates a professional's experience and knowledge of project management principles, which can enhance job prospects and credibility within organizations.

#### What are the best certifications for project managers?

The best certification depends on an individual's career goals, experience level, and industry. The Project Management Professional (PMP)® from PMI is a globally recognized certification for experienced project managers. For those newer to the field, PMI's Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® is a common starting point. Other notable certifications include those focused on agile methodologies, such as the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®, and program management certifications like the Program Management Professional (PgMP)®. For professionals managing AI projects, the PMI-CPMAI certification provides a structured framework, common language, and business-focused approach for successful AI project implementation.

#### How does PMI support career growth for professionals?

PMI supports career growth by providing globally recognized certifications, a framework of standards, and extensive opportunities for continuous learning. Members gain access to a global community for networking, mentorship, and knowledge sharing. The organization also produces research and thought leadership on emerging trends, helping professionals stay current with skills in areas like AI, agile practices, and strategic business management. These resources are designed to help professionals at all levels enhance their skills and advance their careers.

#### What is the PMBOK® Guide?

The PMBOK® Guide, or A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, is PMI’s foundational guide to generally accepted project management knowledge and practice. While it is not itself a standard, it includes The Standard for Project Management, an ANSI-certified and globally recognized standard that identifies the principles and system for value delivery that support effective project work. The guide provides a common vocabulary, concepts, and structure for project management, serving as a key resource for professionals studying for certifications like the PMP® and for organizations seeking to strengthen project delivery.

#### How is AI changing project management?

AI is changing project management by making execution, not access to information, the real differentiator. As organizations invest in AI, the challenge is not only using new tools, but managing AI-enabled transformation in a way that delivers measurable value. Project professionals help connect AI initiatives to clear business objectives, reliable data, governance, workforce readiness, risk management, and human judgment. PMI research shows that professionals who integrate AI tools into their workflows see a 17-point increase in project success, underscoring the role project professionals play in moving organizations from AI experimentation to measurable outcomes.

#### What are the most important skills for a project manager?

Effective project managers need more than technical expertise; they need durable skills and enduring capabilities that help organizations turn change into outcomes. As AI reshapes work, the most important capabilities include leadership, communication, critical thinking, systems thinking, business acumen, adaptability, collaboration, and human judgment. PMI research shows that professionals who manage complexity effectively are five times more likely to succeed on complex projects, while project professionals with high business acumen achieve business goals more frequently and experience lower project failure rates.

#### How can I get involved with the PMI community?

Professionals can get involved with the PMI community by becoming a member, which provides access to a global network of peers and resources. Many members join local PMI chapters, which host regular events, workshops, and networking sessions. Online, PMI's projectmanagement.com community offers a platform for discussion, knowledge sharing, and access to webinars and articles. Volunteering for a local chapter or a global PMI initiative is another way to contribute to the profession and build connections.

#### What is the difference between PMP and CAPM?

The PMP (Project Management Professional)® and CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management)® are both certifications offered by PMI, but they target professionals at different career stages. The CAPM is an entry-level certification designed for individuals with little or no project experience, validating their understanding of fundamental project management knowledge and terminology. The PMP is for experienced project managers and requires a combination of formal education and years of documented project leadership experience, making it a more advanced and globally recognized certification.

#### How does PMI support social impact?
PMI supports social impact by helping individuals, nonprofits, NGOs, and communities use project management to turn purpose into measurable outcomes. Through the PMI Educational Foundation, PMI expands access to project management education for youth worldwide, including underserved and underrepresented populations. Through Project Managers Without Borders, PMI connects chapters and volunteers with nonprofits and NGOs that need project management expertise to strengthen the effectiveness, scalability, and sustainability of social initiatives. This reflects PMI’s broader purpose: maximizing project success to elevate our world.

Marking the close of a pomp-filled day at Windsor Castle for [President Donald Trump ](https://time.com/7280106/trump-interview-100-days-2025/)and his wife, First Lady Melania, the pair attended a traditional "Beating Retreat" ceremony, where they were welcomed by a military band procession.

Trump and the First Lady sat alongside King Charles III and Queen Camilla on a raised platform as U.S. military band members from the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps conducted a performance. This was followed by a display from the bagpipe players of the Scots Guards. Trump has a close connection to Scotland, as his mother Mary was a Scottish immigrant.

As the music came to a crescendo, British Red Arrow jets flew overhead, with red, white and blue smoke trials of the Union Jack flag following behind. U.S. F-35 fighter jets were scheduled to appear in a joint flypast, but pulled out of the ceremony, reportedly due to the poor weather conditions.

British [Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer](https://time.com/7317238/elon-musk-sanctions-united-kingdom-prime-minister-protest-speech/) was in attendance at the special event, as was U.K. Defence Secretary John Healey and other British government and military officials.

Alongside King Charles, Trump interacted with various British military personnel, before retiring ahead of the highly-anticipated state banquet.

Here's what else took place during the first day of Trump's second state visit:

## Trump lays wreath on tomb of Queen Elizabeth II

Trump and Melania were treated to a tour of St. George's Chapel.

Marking a special moment during the [unprecedented second state visit](https://time.com/7302086/trump-royal-family-relationship-state-visit-united-kingdom/), Trump was greeted by the Dean of Windsor, the Rt. Rev. Christopher Cocksworth, and the Chapter Clerk, Miss Charlotte Manley.

Many former monarchs are buried in St. George's Chapel, including Queen Elizabeth II, who [passed away](https://time.com/4619423/queen-elizabeth-dies/) in September 2022.

Trump has often spoken fondly of the longest-reigning British Head of State. Upon hearing of her death, [the President called](https://people.com/royals/donald-trump-reacts-to-news-of-queen-elizabeth/) Elizabeth II’s reign “remarkable” and noted how she had left a “tremendous legacy.”

“She will always be remembered for her faithfulness to her country and her unwavering devotion to her fellow countrymen and women,” said Trump.

Calling Her Majesty an “incredible lady” after his first state visit to the U.K. in 2019, Trump said: “I feel I know her so well and she certainly knows me very well right now, but we \[the U.S.\] have a very good relationship also with the United Kingdom.”

Trump and Melania laid a wreath on Elizabeth II's tomb during their private tour of the chapel.

## Trump admires special collection relating to the U.S.

Following lunch, the royal family invited the Trumps to view an exhibition of a special royal collection of items in the Green Drawing Room of Windsor Castle. Many of the artefacts have a strong connection to the U.S.

The collection includes a letter written by King George III to [Lord Frederick North](https://www.gov.uk/government/history/past-prime-ministers/frederick-north), the British Prime Minister, during the American revolution, regarding the state of rebellions along the East Coast just two years before the declaration of Independence.

Trump has long praised the "special relationship" and history between the U.S. and U.K. When welcoming Starmer to the White House in February, the President said: "The U.S. and U.K. share a special relationship, one like no other, passed down through the centuries."

Prior to viewing the special collection at Windsor, the King and Queen reportedly exchanged gifts with the President and First Lady. A Union Jack flag that flew above Buckingham Palace on Trump’s Inauguration Day was gifted, alongside a silver and enamel bowl featuring the Queen’s cypher, and a silver photograph frame engraved with the King and Queen’s joint cypher. In return, the Trumps offered a replica of a President Eisenhower sword to Charles and a Tiffany & Co. vintage 18K gold, diamond, and ruby flower brooch to the Queen, [Sky News reported](https://news.sky.com/story/trump-uk-state-visit-live-king-windsor-melania-queen-starmer-latest-13425640?postid=10194249#liveblog-body).

## Trump is greeted by Prince William and Kate Middleton

Trump and his wife, First Lady Melania, were greeted by Britain's Prince William, heir to King Charles III, and his wife Kate Middleton as they touched down on the grounds of Windsor Castle on Wednesday morning. Regiments of the Royal Guard were also in position, per tradition, to mark [the start of the presidential visit](https://time.com/7302086/trump-royal-family-relationship-state-visit-united-kingdom/).

Trump could be seen shaking hands with Kate and William, with the group exchanging pleasantries as they made their way through the grounds of the royal estate.

After a brief meeting with King Charles III, Trump took part in a royal carriage procession while seated next to His Majesty. Camilla and Melania rode behind in a separate carriage, as more than 1,000 British military personnel lined the route. The horse-drawn carriages were decorated heavily with gold leaf, similar to that of Trump’s decor in the Oval Office since his second term at the White House.

Before leaving for the U.K. on Tuesday, Trump referred to the British monarch as his “friend” when speaking to reporters outside the White House.

## Anti-Trump protests overshadow the President's arrival in the U.K.

Although Trump received a warm royal welcome at Windsor Castle on Wednesday morning, protests unfolded at the regal residence as he touched down in the U.K. the evening before. The activist group Led by Donkeys [projected images](https://time.com/7317530/trump-epstein-windsor-castle-president-state-visit-protests/) of the U.S. President with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein onto Windsor Castle.

Following the incident, police arrested four people on suspicion of malicious communications.

On Monday, protesters had unveiled a large banner emblazoned with an image of Trump and Epstein on the lawn outside Windsor Castle. The banner, which has since been removed, was organized by the political campaign group Everyone Hates Elon.

Protests continued across the U.K. on Wednesday, with a major demonstration taking place in London. In 2019, during Trump’s last state visit to the U.K., an estimated 125,000 people attended a large-scale protest in the capital.
