FBI Director Kash Patel [said](https://x.com/FBIDirectorKash/status/1965903392934633587) earlier Wednesday that “the subject for the horrific shooting today that took the life of Charlie Kirk is now in custody.” But less than two hours later, he [announced](https://x.com/FBIDirectorKash/status/1965928054712316363) that the suspect had been released “after an interrogation by law enforcement.” Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said in a press conference that he believed the attack was carried out by one person. “I want to make it crystal clear right now to whoever did this, we will find you,” Cox said. “We will try you, and we will hold you accountable to the furthest extent of the law.
