The committee’s chair, Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, [subpoenaed](https://oversight.house.gov/release/chairman-comer-subpoenas-bill-and-hillary-clinton-former-u-s-attorneys-general-and-fbi-directors-and-records-related-to-jeffrey-epstein/) the Justice Department for files in the case last month before lawmakers left town for a weeks-long recess. “We just released ALL the subpoenaed documents from the DOJ related to Jeffrey Epstein,” the Oversight Committee said in a [post](https://x.com/GOPoversight/status/1963000009777123686) on X. The panel said in a press release that “the Department of Justice has indicated it will continue producing those records while ensuring the redaction of victim identities and any child sexual abuse material.” It was not immediately clear whether the documents released on Tuesday included any previously unknown information. The Oversight Committee’s top Democrat, Rep. Robert Garcia of California, said in a [statement](https://oversightdemocrats.house.gov/news/press-releases/ranking-member-robert-garcia-slams-department-justice-recycling-already-public) after the panel received the files from the Justice Department that the “overwhelming majority” of them were already public. Garcia said only 3% of the documents contained new information, which he said was mainly comprised of less than 1,000 pages from the Customs and Border Protection’s log of flight locations for Epstein's plane between 2000 and 2014. Materials related to both Epstein and his longtime associate [Ghislaine Maxwell](https://time.com/7305582/ghislaine-maxwell-epstein-trump-doj/) have previously been released. Attorney General Pam Bondi [released](https://time.com/7262542/pam-bondi-jeffrey-epstein-files/) a cache of documents in Epstein's case in February, but they were heavily redacted and mostly included information that had previously been reported. The Trump Administration has faced criticism over its failure to produce more extensive materials in the case after members of the President's inner circle claimed for years that the so-called "Epstein files" would bring to light serious crimes committed by the rich and powerful. Scrutiny on the Administration's handling of the case, as well as Trump's own [years-long relationship](https://time.com/7302268/donald-trump-jeffrey-epstein-timeline-relationship-2/) with the late sex offender, intensified this summer after the Justice Department and FBI released a [memo](https://time.com/7300378/epstein-client-list-suicide-blackmail-conspiracy-theories-doj-fbi-memo/) in July that stated that Epstein didn’t have a “client list” of co-conspirators and that his 2019 death in jail was a suicide. The memo, which refuted various conspiracy theories that have surrounded Epstein for years and have been especially prominent among those on the right, drew a wave of backlash from the President's own supporters and prompted calls from both sides of the aisle for transparency. Members of the Oversight Committee met with several of Epstein's victims earlier on Tuesday.
