That is if the ruling survives a likely appeal. The [decision](https://assets.bwbx.io/documents/users/iqjWHBFdfxIU/rpaOEefQse00/v0) Tuesday, which amounts to his first major loss in court, means that more than five years after the electric carmaker’s co-founder was granted the largest executive compensation plan in history, Tesla’s board will have to start over and come up with a new proposal. Musk never attempted to exercise his options since they’d been challenged in Delaware Chancery Court. Tesla’s share price slid about 3% in after-hours trading on the news. Musk has repeatedly urged Tesla’s board to arrange another massive stock award for him, years after he sold a significant chunk of his shares in the company to acquire Twitter. Following a trial that ended more than a year ago, Delaware Chancery Court Chief Judge Kathaleen St. J. McCormick sided with an investor who complained Tesla directors didn’t make proper disclosures about the 2018 executive compensation package and the performance benchmarks required of Musk. She also found that conflicts of interest marred the board’s consideration of the pay plan. “In the final analysis, Musk launched a self-driving process, recalibrating the speed and direction along the way as he saw fit,” the judge wrote in a 200-page ruling. “The process arrived at an unfair price. And through this litigation, the plaintiff requests a recall.” Musk, 52, has topped Bloomberg’s wealth list thanks to his stake in Tesla, the world’s most valuable auto company. The stock options from his compensation plan have vested in increments over the past few years as performance targets were achieved, but he hasn’t exercised any of the options, regulatory filings show. In the compensation case, lawyers for Tesla shareholder Richard Tornetta argued board members failed to exercise independence as they drew up the pay package for the company’s chief executive officer and allowed him to improperly engineer the details of his pay plan to his liking. Musk dictated the “framework and financial terms, which remained fundamentally unchanged” throughout the board’s approval process, Tornetta’s lawyers argued in briefs. In her decision, McCormick noted that Musk acknowledged he was basically “negotiating against myself” in the back-and-forth over his pay. “The most striking omission from the process is the absence of any evidence of adversarial negotiations between the board and Musk concerning the size of the grant,” the judge wrote. The decision was delayed, in part, by the judge’s back surgery last year. You can record it very precisely with with electrodes that you implant in the brain like these brain computer interface has or you can get sort of an aggregate of the brain signals by taking a surface recording I want that does normally it does electrical signals, for example from your motor cortex will travel down to your spinal cord and send that signal to a motor neuron in your spinal cord and that flexes your muscle. Your brain has 100 billion of these neurons all talking to each other and firing and you have developed this phenomenally complex nervous system involved it to work but we have to do when you're just getting little signals just like a little Spike from these neurons is the computer has to interpret what that means. Do you have to train the computer to say when I am moving my left foot or thinking about moving my left foot? This is what those signals look like. What a spy kids and what electrophysiologists in neuroscience. Neuroscientist call Spikes are when a neuron fires. So your neurons in your brain are receiving signals from other cells all the time and that they get a strong enough signal they sent an action potential which we call a spike and that sends a signal down a long wire to a different neuron. Is that an electrical signal that you can measure so these devices are just hearing that electrical signal that one big spike and what you can do that that's an electrical signal that's almost like if you're pushing a button on your computer every time you heard a beep if you push the button on your computer, you could cause your computer to do something. So the part from the signal being interpreted by the brain computer interface and how it influences something outside of your body is a lot like a Wi-Fi signal. So I think neuralink says they have no wire. So I assume it's a wireless signal so they'll take those electrical signals. The computer will decode them and say this person is thinking about moving the mouse to the right that electrical signal then goes it's just like putting a robot and moving your mouse to the right. So it's just an electrical impulse the way we would Program a computer or a robot to do anything that the complex B is interpreting the brain signal so that you can tell that robot or that machine what to do. There was a fascinating case published last year in Switzerland a man who was completely paralysed and had one of these early brain-computer interfaces experiments. We implanted in his brain recording from the part of the brain that controls movement and then a very Advanced machine learning. So artificial intelligence algorithm interpreted those signals and set them directly to his spinal cord below where the injury was so he could walk so this is how amazing Neuroscience is that even if only a trial so far but you can actually to decode what the brand is saying now and use that to generate movement. This is a similar principle principal to neuralink these ideas that you can help people speak. I've seen several studies some of which you've known invasive methods like scalp electrodes to record brain activity or functional MRI, so a brain scan essentially and that's a little bit less precise and sticking an electric directly into your brain and record. A signal but what it is allowing people to do and in collaboration with these cute with powerful computer system is for people to think about words and those to be interpreted by the computer and then you know, you could use that type for to generate speech. So this is research that coming along as fascinating as it's not in the studies.
