### FAQ

#### Is a PMP certification worth it?

A Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification is widely considered a valuable certification for project managers seeking to advance their careers. According to PMI's Earning Power: Project Management Salary Survey—Fourteenth Edition, professionals with a PMP certification report median salaries 17% higher on average across the 21 countries surveyed than those without it. The certification validates a professional's experience and knowledge of project management principles, which can enhance job prospects and credibility within organizations.

#### What are the best certifications for project managers?

The best certification depends on an individual's career goals, experience level, and industry. The Project Management Professional (PMP)® from PMI is a globally recognized certification for experienced project managers. For those newer to the field, PMI's Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® is a common starting point. Other notable certifications include those focused on agile methodologies, such as the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®, and program management certifications like the Program Management Professional (PgMP)®. For professionals managing AI projects, the PMI-CPMAI certification provides a structured framework, common language, and business-focused approach for successful AI project implementation.

#### How does PMI support career growth for professionals?

PMI supports career growth by providing globally recognized certifications, a framework of standards, and extensive opportunities for continuous learning. Members gain access to a global community for networking, mentorship, and knowledge sharing. The organization also produces research and thought leadership on emerging trends, helping professionals stay current with skills in areas like AI, agile practices, and strategic business management. These resources are designed to help professionals at all levels enhance their skills and advance their careers.

#### What is the PMBOK® Guide?

The PMBOK® Guide, or A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, is PMI’s foundational guide to generally accepted project management knowledge and practice. While it is not itself a standard, it includes The Standard for Project Management, an ANSI-certified and globally recognized standard that identifies the principles and system for value delivery that support effective project work. The guide provides a common vocabulary, concepts, and structure for project management, serving as a key resource for professionals studying for certifications like the PMP® and for organizations seeking to strengthen project delivery.

#### How is AI changing project management?

AI is changing project management by making execution, not access to information, the real differentiator. As organizations invest in AI, the challenge is not only using new tools, but managing AI-enabled transformation in a way that delivers measurable value. Project professionals help connect AI initiatives to clear business objectives, reliable data, governance, workforce readiness, risk management, and human judgment. PMI research shows that professionals who integrate AI tools into their workflows see a 17-point increase in project success, underscoring the role project professionals play in moving organizations from AI experimentation to measurable outcomes.

#### What are the most important skills for a project manager?

Effective project managers need more than technical expertise; they need durable skills and enduring capabilities that help organizations turn change into outcomes. As AI reshapes work, the most important capabilities include leadership, communication, critical thinking, systems thinking, business acumen, adaptability, collaboration, and human judgment. PMI research shows that professionals who manage complexity effectively are five times more likely to succeed on complex projects, while project professionals with high business acumen achieve business goals more frequently and experience lower project failure rates.

#### How can I get involved with the PMI community?

Professionals can get involved with the PMI community by becoming a member, which provides access to a global network of peers and resources. Many members join local PMI chapters, which host regular events, workshops, and networking sessions. Online, PMI's projectmanagement.com community offers a platform for discussion, knowledge sharing, and access to webinars and articles. Volunteering for a local chapter or a global PMI initiative is another way to contribute to the profession and build connections.

#### What is the difference between PMP and CAPM?

The PMP (Project Management Professional)® and CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management)® are both certifications offered by PMI, but they target professionals at different career stages. The CAPM is an entry-level certification designed for individuals with little or no project experience, validating their understanding of fundamental project management knowledge and terminology. The PMP is for experienced project managers and requires a combination of formal education and years of documented project leadership experience, making it a more advanced and globally recognized certification.

#### How does PMI support social impact?
PMI supports social impact by helping individuals, nonprofits, NGOs, and communities use project management to turn purpose into measurable outcomes. Through the PMI Educational Foundation, PMI expands access to project management education for youth worldwide, including underserved and underrepresented populations. Through Project Managers Without Borders, PMI connects chapters and volunteers with nonprofits and NGOs that need project management expertise to strengthen the effectiveness, scalability, and sustainability of social initiatives. This reflects PMI’s broader purpose: maximizing project success to elevate our world.

From Oct. 13 to 14, Amazon is continuing its Prime Day tradition of heavily discounting various products, from books to cooking utensils to everything in between. But some of the most bang for your buck comes from the multitude of tech discounts that knock serious dollars off gear like high-end headphones, subscription services, and even 4K TVs.

Here are just a few of the most enticing tech deals you can snag this Prime Day:

### **Save on your next smartphone**

The newest smartphone from Samsung is already receiving a pretty hefty discount on Prime Day. The [Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082XYGR2C/ref=as%5Fli%5Fqf%5Fasin%5Fil%5Ftl?ie=UTF8&tag=time037-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B082XYGR2C&linkId=42653feb0eaec729ce9b1bf5ec11d7c5), normally $1,399, will be discounted by $350 to make it $1,049.99\. With 5G support, a huge 6.8-inch display, lightning fast processor, and 128GB of storage, it’s hard to go wrong with a smartphone like this one.

But if you want to save some cash, you can always go the more inexpensive route and try a smartphone from Google. [The Pixel 4](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YMNLXL3/ref=as%5Fli%5Fqf%5Fasin%5Fil%5Ftl?ie=UTF8&tag=time037-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B07YMNLXL3&linkId=fcdca1f3e366ff31e5c320e8394d1447), normally $899, is now $549\. It has an incredible camera, supports Google’s slew of machine learning-powered services, and doesn’t break the bank.

### **Get a giant TV for less**

With next-gen consoles on the horizon, streaming services embracing 4K content, and inexpensive TVs boasting more high-end features, it might be time to get yourself out of the land of 1080p. [Toshiba’s 50LF621U21 50-inch Smart 4K UHD TV](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086VR2KY8/ref=as%5Fli%5Fqf%5Fasin%5Fil%5Ftl?ie=UTF8&tag=time037-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B086VR2KY8&linkId=0548f730afc0e03e5f33cff833c84392) is a great addition to your home theater without breaking the bank. At $259, you get a 4K TV that supports Dolby Vision HDR, runs on Amazon’s Fire TV platform, and costs $120 less than it did the day before.

Want a more high-end model? You can also get [Samsung’s 65-inch FRAME QLED TV](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084RMZJDY/ref=as%5Fli%5Fqf%5Fasin%5Fil%5Ftl?ie=UTF8&tag=time037-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B084RMZJDY&linkId=850dfe7fdb4a6f605ee7bd86bdb7cc7e) for $1,497.99, saving you a hefty $502\. The Frame looks like a work of framed art, and even displays actual art when not in use. It, of course, features even more cool niceties, like Airplay and SmartThings support, HDR, and replaceable bezels to match your home’s aesthetic.

### **Save some dough on your gaming habit**

While you can score a slew of discounted games during Prime Day, some of the most valuable discounts may be found when it comes to discounted subscription services.

Sony’s game-streaming [PlayStation Now](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019CYYSFC/ref=as%5Fli%5Fqf%5Fasin%5Fil%5Ftl?ie=UTF8&tag=time037-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B019CYYSFC&linkId=3aff56b0c6157222d4c8de963970f7cb) service, normally $59.99 for a year, is now a more affordable $41.99\. With PlayStation Now, you can stream over 800 PS4, PS3, and PS2 games to your PS4 or PC—a great way to keep yourself occupied while the next generation of consoles makes it way to store shelves this holiday season.

If you’re more of a Mario fan, you can score a pretty sweet deal on Nintendo’s own online gaming service, [Nintendo Switch Online](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08BT4MTZS/ref=as%5Fli%5Fqf%5Fasin%5Fil%5Ftl?ie=UTF8&tag=time037-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B08BT4MTZS&linkId=fcde5e79b90525a5473169df48db6803) ($35 annually), included with purchase of a Switch-friendly 128GB microSD card for $40.

### **A voice assistant for under $20 is a steal**

Purchasing an [Amazon Echo Dot](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W95GZNH/ref=as%5Fli%5Fqf%5Fasin%5Fil%5Ftl?ie=UTF8&tag=time037-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B07W95GZNH&linkId=688d895bff043a14410e12c64cc9bd30) for under $20 is practically a steal, especially when you consider what you’re getting: a voice assistant, smart home accessory, music player, bedside clock—and that’s before you consider all the voice-powered services and casual games available in Amazon’s App store, all while saving $31.

### **Upgrade your internet with a mesh network**

Prime Day is the perfect time to swap out that old internet connection for one more robust and ready for the 21st century. In fact, you should consider a mesh network—the Amazon-owned [Eero mesh network](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WMLPSRL/ref=as%5Fli%5Fqf%5Fasin%5Fil%5Ftl?ie=UTF8&tag=time037-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B07WMLPSRL&linkId=888bb978ae55e5a1b67344a8831effdf) in particular. For $174 (that’s $75 off) you can score a three-pack of mesh routers, perfect for blanketing those internet dead zones you’ve put up with for so long. Eero’s mesh network is pretty smart too, letting you govern who can or can’t get online, set house rules, and control the entire network via Alexa.

### **Get yourself great headphones for less**

If you love music, but hate disturbing your roommates or neighbors with your bangin’ tunes, you should get some headphones. And not just any headphones, some good ones.

Sony’s noise-cancelling [WH-1000XM4](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08G43MX9G/ref=as%5Fli%5Fqf%5Fasin%5Fil%5Ftl?ie=UTF8&tag=time037-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B08G43MX9G&linkId=278ffe56cea26ff2ac0343a13344b0ce) are the current king of over-the-ear Bluetooth headphones, and you can get them for $298, a $75 discount. What’s more, you’ll also get a $25 Amazon gift card for future purchases.

If you need something more portable, there are always Apple’s beloved AirPods. Normally $159, you can get a pair of [AirPods](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PXGQC1Q/ref=as%5Fli%5Fqf%5Fasin%5Fil%5Ftl?ie=UTF8&tag=time037-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B07PXGQC1Q&linkId=4e7b38794001af3677c0cbeba8f46e84) with a standard charging case for $115\. They won’t do any noise cancelling or sound isolation, but they will fit in your pocket, and probably change how often you listen to music in general.

### **Get discounts on more memberships**

Amazon’s got a few choice discounts on its own Kindle and Audible services, if you’d rather read (or listen) to a book than watch the latest episode of the prestige show du jour.

You can get a [year of Audible](https://www.amazon.com/hz/audible/gift-membership-detail?ref%5F=assoc%5Ftag%5Fph%5F1524210806852&%5Fencoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=pf4&tag=time037-20&linkId=1e3f555887646a002b75e8bf88a30ea7) for $100, $50 cheaper than usual. It gets you 12 credits, applicable on any audiobook in the Audible catalog, along with a slew of free content including Audible Originals, guided wellness programs, podcasts, and more.

Want to do more reading with your eyes instead of your ears? Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited service, normally $60 for six months, is $30 today. [Kindle Unlimited](https://www.amazon.com/kindle-dbs/hz/signup?ref%5F=assoc%5Ftag%5Fph%5F1454291293420&%5Fencoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=pf4&tag=time037-20&linkId=5d041e940f5abd32680fd6fd12aa5a4e) gets you millions of free books to read at your leisure, along with Audible-powered narration for supported books.
